Update: Appt Today at Duke

Thanks everyone for helping me find a doctor.  I finally got in to see someone today and I actually felt that he really listened to me.

My update is this:  Dr thinks that I have either an abdominal wall hernia or an internal hernia.  However, my CT reports/Upper GI/Ultrasounds that I had showed ovarian cysts as well as an enlarged appendix (weird-never have pain there). 

So, my next step is to go to the Gyn Dr to make sure all is ok in their world before the Drs can go in for a diagnostic laparoscopy.  They want to make sure that they don't go inside, close me up, only to have a Gyn Dr have to go back inside.  It makes really good sense, but frustrating because I can't get in with Gyn Dr until Feb 19th, then go back to Dr at Duke (don't know his name - Dr. T something, but I only saw the PA today who was terrific!).  

Until then-I'm in pain, and I've officially gained back 55 lbs that I originally lost & can't move enough to go exercise or have "normal" life, so it's a bit depressing. 

Well that's my two cent update. 

I'm so sorry to hear that you are still struggling and in pain, but I'm glad that you were abl to be seen and felt that you were heard and taken care of... Was the Dr. that you are seeing name Dr. Torquati? He's a fairly new member of the Duke WLS team.

I'm sure that once you can get these health issues managed, you'll be able to work on getting your weight down with diet and exercise.

Yes, he's the one - I hope to actually meet him next time.  They all seemed to be very nice there.

I am certainly hoping that I'll be able to get my weight back down, as soon as I get over this stumbling block.

Did you by chance meet with Hillary when you went in? If so, she's nothing short of fabulous... she's incredibly competent and caring. I haven't met Dr. Torquati yet, but have heard good things about him. I'm sure you will be in excellent hands.

I'm sure that once you get these 'issues' addressed, you'll be able to put that RNY pouch to work for you and get the weight off.

I'm so sorry - I've been busy lately and haven't been online much.  I keep trying to have "normal life" but then end up in pain and having to take my pain pills, which make me really stupid.  I decided trying to type messages on my stupid pills was not a smart idea.

No, I didn't meet with Hillary - is this someone I should look for.  I only saw the main nurse that checked me in and Christopher Myers. 

I'm really excited to get this whole thing over with.  I am really hoping I can get back on track after I'm all better.  Thanks for your encouragement - you are great!
