Anyone in Eastern NC?

Hey Everyone,

New to this site just signed up today.  Anyone near Eastern, NC? My doctor is Dr. Pender at the Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, NC and my surgery will be at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC.  I started my pre-op liquids yesterday 1/28/09.  I will be banded on February 11, 2009.  Looking forward to having the support this site will provide.  Also looking forward to making new friends.  Please add me if you like.  Would love to hear from ya!!

You know, I think you're the first person I've seen on the forum from that area!  Good to have you on the board and good luck to you!  I'm just up the road from you (well about 50 miles or so) in the wonderful northeast!  I didn't have Dr. Pender, but he seems to have a good reputation from what I can hear/read.  I did have my RNY at PCMH (as did my wife, and MANY others here) so you'll get plenty of pointers as you get closer.

Hi Becky, yeah, there are alot of Down East folks here.  I'm a patient of Dr. Chapman's; now about 15 months post op and doing great.  Welcome to the NC Board.  I work here at the med school in the emergency department.  I'd love to come by and see you after you have your surgery....

Hi Becky.  My DH will be banded by Dr. Pender in Feb 2.  He is doing his 2 week pre-op liquids right now.  He's a little crabby!

I am a little concerned that Dr. Pender has only done about 50 bands.  And the entire practice seems to be using RNY rules for band patients.  But I guess all docs are different.  And if my DH is OK with Dr. Pender, I will be, too.

I was banded in Mexico in October 2007 and have lost 95 pounds to date.

Hey! Thanks for the answer to my post.  I'm in the 2 weeks of liquids too and I can totally agree with your husband!! It's not been too too bad but it hasn't exactly been fun either.  Yesterday and today have been the worse 2 days out of the 3 that I've been on this.  I do have a question? And I have thought about it and I can't seem to figure it out--What does DH stand for?

I haven't been nervous with Dr. Pender but at the same time I didn't realize he had only done about 50 bands.  How did you find out that information?

Hi Becky - welsome to the best forum on the whole web. I had my surgery at Pitt and could not be any happier with them. Feb. 11th will be here before you know it - good luck with the liquid diet and there are lots of folks on here who have been through that and help you out if you need it.

I am a Dr. Pender Veteran...LOL In March will be my one year surgiversary, I too had it at Pitt Palace and I too had Dr. Pender!!!  Please take a minute and look over my profile and read my journey and my Pictures!!! I LOVE MY RNY!!!
Very GOOD LUCK with the good 'ol Optifast!!! If you feel like you are going to fall off the diet, come here for support, most of us have been EXACTLY where you are at :)

I am right here in Richlands, I had my surgery up in Greenville at The Pitt Palace 16 months ago. I am a Dr. Mann patient and I had RNY.. I LOVE my RNY! You can see my changes as I shrunk down through my photos on my profile. I went from a size 18 to a 2/4!! woohoo! Everyone that lives in Eastern NC mets up once a month at Logans Roadhouse in Jacksonville. Next month is Feb 3rd at 7pm. We would LOVE for you to come join us! I know you will be on your liquid diet but many pre-ops have joined us drinking their shakes or soups ect. The restaurant does not care and will not say anything. Welcome to the board!!
