I live in Wadesboro, which is about an hour east of Charlotte.  Not sure where you are now, but all of the Charlotte OH girls/families are having dinner on Sunday.. You are welcome to join us.

Personally, I like to shop in Charlotte, but I would never live there.  Its too big.  I prefer small towns and Monroe is about as large as I would get if I were choosing a place to live.  :)  Especially if you have kids..  Union County is not as massive as Mecklenburg.  Union also has good schools.  Monroe has about everything you would need and Charlotte is close enough to drive over to if you want to go there for dinner or shopping.  Just my opinion though.

I live in Indian Trail. LOVE IT! We moved from Charlotte 6 years ago for the main reason most move to Union County from Mecklenburg- TAXES! Our taxes in Charlotte were going to raise and we had enough. Sold the old house and bought a new one and pay less taxes! Plus, where we are it's kind of like being in the Country, with the accessibility of the City!
I work in Charlotte. The only bad thing is the commute to and from work!

It's a great area of Charlotte to live in, and it's growing like crazy.  We have relatives in the Monroe area, and it's fun to visit.  I wouldn't live there because it takes 20+ minutes to go pretty much anywhere.  They do have a Target near them now, and there's just going to be more stores built.
The relatives used to live in Matthews and had a lot more convenience right off of 485.  North Carolina is a great place to live, and Charlotte always has something going on.

I live in Stallings (really Matthews), just outside Charlotte...I also work as a teacher in Weddington.  Union Co. Schools are great...and I had my son Kids Are First daycare just up the road, which was good.  Seems like there are good and bad communities in every town, but we're happy at our new little subvision here in Stallings.  The subdivision is Fair Haven.  However, we'll be moving to Texas in June.  So, if you're looking a home to rent I have a one...LOL

Are there areas that are not as good as others? School Districts to avoid? How is the job market in the area?

I appreciate your responses
