Here I am just venting. Please forgive....
Well it was my 4 week anniversary on Monday and I still have not seen my surgeon since I was in the hospital. I had an appt for one week but they cancelled it because they wanted to extend their holiday hours. They told me as long as I was able to get my staples taken out at my reg doctor they would just see me at my 1 month appt. Well that appt was supposed to be on Tuesday. They called Tuesday morning and rescheduled it for the next week because they wanted to get home before the snow got too bad. Well, I come from PA and I know a bit about snow. It did not get bad. Sure it was worse at night but my appt was not at night. I don't feel like they actually care about my health. They were there before surgery but follow up has been... well, it hasn't been.
I was wondering if anyone has changed Dr's after surgery. I am thinking I might want someone else looking after my health since they have not looked after me at all.

I think it would be a good idea for you to voice your concerns in writing to your surgeon's office.  In fact, if your surgeon's office has an administrative head, like an office manager, address your concern to them too.  When I've not been pleased with a doctor in the past I have clearly expressed it.  I've had a gynecologist treat my concerns as trivial and me as if I were an idiot.  I've had a British doctor treat me like I was a fat slob when I lived in the UK..  And I had an ear/nose/throat doctor make me wait more than 75 minutes to 2 hours every time I saw him.  In every case I made an appointment to express my concerns with their administrators or I wrote a letter to all concerned about my displeasure.  Luckily I have not had that problem with any of my medical care lately though.  In fact, the next time I see my surgeon I plan to hug him!

Let 'em know how you feel.  Sometimes these people do these thing 'cause they think they can get away with it.  Call them on it.

I do finally have an appointment this coming Thursday. I think I will ask to speak with the office manager or whomever then if I don't tell the doctor himself. I really hate confrontation when I know I have to see this person/office on a regular basis. It is like I don't want them mad at me. Stupid of me. Like Pam said, my insurance and I are paying him. Thanks for the advise. I will let you know what comes of my calling him on it.

I agree with Meredith! I was feeling the same way because I was having to wait so long for all the documents to get done to send for insurance approval. I really started feeling like they didn't care at all about how emotional that was for me and most of the ladies that work there have had WLS!!!
I finally got so fed up, I emailed Dr. Voellinger direct and told him exactly how I felt. In less than 1 hour, the coordination lady called me and apologized profusely!!  My paperwork was sent in within a few days. You/your insurance are paying this Dr alot of money and you  have every right to voice your concerns!

Good luck and hugs,
Pam

I really should I guess. You are right, my insurance and I are paying him. I hold the cards here. Thanks.
