Hi, Has anyone used this Dr? I live in GA but unfortunately I am looking into DS right now and the 2 surgeons won't work into my scheduling so I have to go out of state which I am fine with just wanted to come here and see what I can find out. Thank You

I am sure that 99.9% of the folks here would say they LOVE their WLS surgeons.  I certainly love Dr. Kuwada.  I wish you luck in finding a surgeon that will meet your needs.

I am sure they would as well, I came here to see b/c I am out of state and don't know much about this surgeon but I am doing research though. Does your Dr. do DS???

As far as I know he only does RNY and Lapband.  :)

YOU STATED THAT THE 2 SURGEONS IN GA WILL NOT WORK IN YOUR SCHEDULING. WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT? I HEARD DR. DENNIS SMITH IS A GREAT DS SURGEON AND HE DO THEM LAP. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH DR.DONALD MAYNARD AND HIS STAFF IS AWESOME. THE ONLY REAL DOWNSIDE SO FAR, FOR ME IS HE ONLY DOES DS OPEN. BUT HE IS COVERAGED BY MY INSURANCE. HE HAS A GREAT SUPPORT GROUP AND POST-OP CARE GROUP,SO I AM BITTIN THE BULLET AND GONING WITH HIM FOR NOW. IM STILL RESEARCHING THO.RESEARCHING,RESEARCHING,RESEARCHING, BUT I HAVE SETTLE ON DS. I AM STILL KIND OF SHAKIE ABOUT SOME OF THE POOING AND GAS ISSUE THAT I'VE HEARD ABOUT. I HAVE BEEN LURKING ON THE DS BOARD TO GET THE VETERAN DSER INPUT AND THEY ALL SAY IT'S NOT A PROBLEM. SO I WILL KEEP RESEARCH AND ASKING QUESTION TO ANYONE THAT IS WILLING TO LISTEN AND ANSWER! LOL

I am still not sure DS is really for me, I have a RNY surgeon right now but researching my options. What I mean about my schedule is both offices require you to go to there seminars and none of them will work with my days off or my scheduled vaction days, One thing I miss about the state, we must schedule our vacation a year ahead. I have asked both offices if I could just schedule a consultation but they both have declined. So here I go researching out of state as my insurance will cover WLS anywhere even overseas ex Brazil or Mexico amazing right? well I would have to pay and they will reimburse me. So, I am scheduled for a seminar on Feb 16th in NC with this doctor which is a Holiday and going to Dr. Hudson??? on his last saturday seminar. Also, what makes me nervous is any office that doesn't think of people who do not worl traditional hours many many doctors try to accomidate their patients and the 2 GA DS doctors were not so I am taking my business else where.

You two are all over this board!!! I haven't been able to find much info on Dr V either. I even tried to find the NC medical review board, but couldn't pull up anything. Keep me posted on what you find.

Can't believe your insurance covers out of country. That's great.

I know, I would have to pay out of pocket and they will reimburse for the surgery ONLY not travel and such. My company has 1 insurance plan company WIDe and we have businesses all over. BUT it has to be a country that our company has locations in so Brazil will be out...lol...I didn't know until another co-worker told me.

Hi ya Roxy!!! I'm waiting on my surgery date with DR V. He's doing the VSG on me.
I really do like him.  He's just a big ole teddy bear! Made me feel very comfortable!!
He did RNY on a coworker 2 years ago and she recommended him. She looks great!

The staff is somewhat frustrating getting all the paperwork in after you've completed all your appts but it doesn't seem like they take any longer than most others.
I'm just very impatient lol.

WOW...Congrats to you and I hope you get your date soon. I went to his surgeon page and he had nothing but rave reviews. I'll be attending his seminar on Feb. 16th.
