OT Need Prayers Please

About 3 months ago when my husband was in school in California he started to get seriously bad headaches.  When he got home to NC before we moved his vision started to get worse.  he was seeing double, blurry, could not drive at night and had to have one eye closed to see straight.  Well he went to the doc on base (which we hate) but had no other choice and the dr came in and said oh you must be having migraine, gave him migraine meds and sent him on his way all in 10 minutes.  Didnt do any blood work or scan or nothing.  Well he took the medicine and it never helped.

So when we got settled here in TX and had our insurance switched over he went to a civilian doc.  She was immediately concerned.  Did bloodwork (which came out normal) and then scheduled him for a cat scan for this past monday.  He called today to see if they had the results.  The receptionist said oh heres your file well it looks like you have a cyst on your brain.  She also said dont worry about it we will schedule an appt with your dr and let her speak to you about it.

Well thats all we know about it.   We now have to wait till he sees the doctor.  Me being the worry wart I am freaking out right now.  I just wish I knew more about it.  i.e. the name of it, is it serious, is it not serious, will he need surgery.  OMG I dont know what to think but I am staying positive telling myself well atleast its not a tumor but just a benign cyst (that we know of) right now.

We were hoping to get this settled before he goes back to work.  He goes to work on Monday and he still has to go see an opthamologist and see his doctor again.  It just makes me mad at the military doc...we couldve found this out almost 2 months ago if he wouldve have taken the time.

Anyways thank you for letting me tell you my problems and if you pray please pray for a positive outcome.  My husband never complains, is a very hard worker, and is never sick so this is all new to him and us.  THANK YOU

((((Amanda)))),

I'm sorry that you are having to endure this struggle. Do yourself a favor and call the Dr's office in the morning. Let them know that you need to speak with the Dr. You can tell them that you spoke with someone who indicated that there is cyst and it has scared you silly and you need to know if there is something to worry about or not and what 'it' is and means.

All of that said, I would bet that it's not 'serious' or the office staff wouldn't have mentioned it and if it was serious they'd have done what they did with my friend and called him in the same day the received the results.

Hang in there baby and know that we are praying for you and your entire family. When you find out what's wrong and get a minute, please come back and let us know what's happening.

Hugs,

Barbara

Thanks Barbara!!  We are actually taking my daughter tomorrow for her 2 year check up (2 weeks late) and she has the same doctor we do so my husband is going to talk to her then.  She better take the time to go over the results with him, since they could not schedule him till monday with her but he starts work and wouldnt be able to go.  Also the office staff told my husband they received the results today and were going to call him later but he beat them to it.  So hopefully I will update with positive news tomorrow.

Amanda,  While I'm relieved to hear the word "cyst" used, I know it is scary knowing it is a brain cyst...especially since it's been causing him so many problems!  Do call the office like Barb suggested and insist on talking with the dr. immediately to set your fears to rest.  Hopefully the cyst is in a location that will be easy to drain or remove.  Please give your husband the warmest wishes and sympathies from me and mine.  We will be thinking of you both and anxiously waiting to hear what you find out!

I am so sorry your husband is having such a hard time.  When you get a final outcome it might be a good idea to contact the original doctor on base and let him know what has happened.  These people need to know that they're simply not thorough enough!

Best wishes to you and your husband.  Keep us updated.
