2 Month Surgiversary! (also update on labs & hernia)

It has been 2 months today since I had my RNY.  I am down 37.8 pounds total, including my 10.4 pound loss on my 10 day pre-op diet.  Since surgery, I am averaging a little over -3 lbs. per week.  As long as I continue to lose steadily, I am okay with that!

I will have hubby help me take my measurements this evening and will post those losses on my profile.  I did have our daughter help take my photos this afternoon, hence the new avatar (which I miss seeing my Viv in but she wouldn't cooperate, lil' stinker!).  In the photos we took today (which can be viewed on my profile by my friends), I do not see a difference like I did last month.  Matter of fact, I think I look bigger!  BLAH!  I'm telling myself it's the brighter colored top.  hehehe

I cannot figure out for the life of me how to "style" my new haircut like the hairdresser did!  He blew it dry with a big, round brush so it was smooth and shiny.  I had to just scrunch and air dry today knowing I was going to take pics because on the days I do try to style it, oh my word, what a sight!  lol

As for the update, the nurse from my surgeon's office called earlier and said that my labs all came back good, so YAY on that note!  I took the time to share with her my concerns about the possibility of a hernia and she said to have them take a look at it at my next appointment (which I need to call and schedule!).  In the meantime, as you ladies said, no lifting.  I'm hoping if this is a hernia, it can wait until I am ready to have some other cosmetic procedure(s) done as well.

At two months out, I am feeling really good and hoping that I will see a much larger dent in my progress during the coming month or two!  Thanks so much for all your support and friendships!

Hey Shauna,

I'm so glad you are doing so well.  You look great! I can tell a difference.  You seem to have gotten through the hypoglycemia episodes fairly well.  I had my preop visit today, and everything is on go for the 28th at 5:45.  I get to be the first one.  So glad.  I'm looking forward to being down 37 pounds.

Deborah,

Awesome news that you are first in line on surgery day!  That's the place to be for sure!  Hope your pre-op all went smoothly and that your nerves have settled down for you.

You are right...the hypoglycemic episodes are few and far between now!  I had one kick me in the pants earlier today because I waited too long to eat, but that was my fault.  My body is adjusting!

This past weekend, I was just sick as a dog and thinking it was my blood sugar, but nothing I did would give me any relief.  Finally talked with Tamara on the phone and she helped me realize it was most likely a reaction to the barium I'd drank on Friday.  DUH!  I was sooo glad to know it was most likely not the blood sugar issue returning with a vengeance!

Thanks for noticing a difference in my photos!  I was wondering if someone else might because I've seen people post a photo that they can't tell in but I can.  I will be glad to see this evening if my measurements tell me that yes, there's a difference!

Even if I am losing slow, -37 pounds has made a HUGE difference in the quality of my life.  It's a remarkable feeling that I can't wait for you to have as well.  And you WILL...SOON!

Well I can tell a difference in you but I know what you mean. Any time I've lost weight I've not been able to see the difference but other people could.

I put on 10 lbs during Thanksgiving and Christmas  so I've got to work hard to get that off before my pre op visit

You hang in there! 3 lbs a week is a great healthy way to do it!  I Hope to do that good!

Pam,

So you can see a difference too.  Hmmm.  You sure you all aren't just trying to be nice?!

I have every confidence in you that you will be able to take that 10 pounds off quickly, Pam.  Do you have to have it off before your pre-op visit or could you just wait and take it off during your pre-op diet?  That's exactly how much I lost on mine!

And I am in whole-hearted agreement with you that -3 lbs. per week is healthy.  My body seems to be reacting to that really well.  I just hope so much it doesn't slow down anytime soon!

Well actually nobody told me I had to take it off and if I don't get it off before I go, I'll just tell them it's because THEY took way too long getting my stuff to BCBS lol

But I'm gonna try to get at least some of it off and them maybe I will lose 10 on my pre op diet as well and be ahead of the game. I've got to catch up with you!!!!

glad to know that things have gotten better for you (hernia not included). I see a new found sassiness in the newest photos. Keep up the great work.
