not really a WOW moment... more like a HECK YEAH!!!! (long.....)
Since the start of this year I've been thinking about all of the things that I kept myself from doing when I was heavier. Silly things like talking to people, sitting in a booth, going to movies, etc. AUGH! I'm not that person anymore! I have started making a list of things that I want to do now that I'm almost "average" and I've already started marking things off my list!!!
I love to laugh, those of you that have met me can agree with me I'm sure! lol I've always wanted to go to a comedy show but never would because I didn't want to be the "fat girl in the front row" that the comic made fun of. Well I finally went to a comedy show with 2 comics. I had a great time! I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt and I was in tears! Wow - now I feel like an idiot for holding myself back from this fun for so long! "Beth's To-do List" was born!
The top thing on my list was to go indoor rock climbing, yes I'm serious!
I went yesterday! My friends Chad and James went with me ( I didn't even have to beg them) down to Wilmington to Climb-on Rock Climbing. We were there for about 4hours. I was EXTREMELY nervous the closer we got to the place but I knew that I had to keep pushing myself - no more regrets or I wish I would have's....
We got there, got the equipment and suited up. I thought I was going to pass out when it was my turn to climb the first time. I really didn't think I could push my big booty up that wall. I stood at the base for a minute and just kept looking up. A group of UNCW students were standing nearby (obviously had been climbing for a while) and a girl saw that I was nervous - she came over and climbed side by side with me pretty much the whole way up the wall. Thank god for her! lol Chad and James were incouraging too but its just not the same... lol
Well once I got up to the top and safely down to the ground again - I was hooked! I ended up climbing 5 different climbing walls of various difficulties about 8 times. I haven't felt so good about myself in years! I did it!!! I kept pushing myself to climb even after my fingers and hands were burning and my arms and legs were numb. "I can go 1 more time" was something I said about 4 times... lol My last climb was obviously the hardest since my body was feeling the pain. Lucky for me James caught it on video. ( it's loaded on my myspace videos page if your interested www.myspace.com/bethrenae78 there are lots of pics on there too! )
Anyway - I just knew that I had to share this with you guys!
Looking forward to my next adventures!
Beth

I have almost the same list! But as an ex Airman I would never ever jump out of a perfectly good airplane on purpose LOL! My daughter and I were talking about celebrating my weightloss by using the climbing wall at our gym. She said we should go do it. I do want to get a little more weight off first though. But I am looking forward to it. My cousin has horses and she is going to let me ride after I get below 200 (which is any day now). Who says life ends at 50! Not for me. Its just restarting!

Beth,
Congrats on such an eventful day of rock climbing! You made me smile, our lists are completely identical! :)
Ice Skating - I think this was one of my firsts (Christmas time last year) and it was magical!
Roller Coasters - We also went to Cedar Point this summer and I had the time of my life. I actually was crying as the first roller coaster came back to it's ending point. Tears of joy. I'll never forget the feeling of accomplishment. Oh, and yes...they have the BEST coasters!
Sky Diving - Ryan's supervisor is working on getting his tandem certification and was looking for volunteers about a month ago. I was totally jealous because I wanted to go! (after baby)
All the rest are the same, just on hold for now. But the time will come. At least I know I can! :) Enjoy the newfound you!
