Let's get moving together!
Hi All,
As many of you know, I lead a virtual and an in person support group in Raleigh NC. I'd really like to find some ways for us to have some activities that would allow us to socialize, get active and maybe even do something good for someone else at the same time. With this in mind, I'm looking into seeing if anyone might be interested in participating in local charitable walks. The ones that come to mind right now,
WalkLikeMadd in Raleigh March 09
Special Olympics in Raleigh or Chapel Hill/Spring 09
These are just two that I found in the area. Soooo... Would you be interested? Do you know of other walks that we might participate in?
Overall, what do you think?

Hi Gina,
I hope to meet you someday. Our support group meetings are held at the Golden Corral on Millbrook at the intersection of Capital Blvd on the 3rd Saturday morning of each month. We actually have other members from the Fayetteville area that come up for the meetings fairly regularly. To be notified about the meetings and events you can log on to http://wls.meetup.com/101.

Just as soon as I can get walking post-op, I'm all over this idea! Another one I know if is the diabetes walk out in RTP in the springtime. I can get more info if you'd like. A former colleague and girlfriend of mine heads up a team in that walk. Also, Gerald and I ran the Autism Ribbon Run in October of '06, but we've missed the last 2 and would love to do that again. They have a 1 mile fun walk for those not up to running or going a longer distance. The activites they had after the race were really nice, too. That one is in downtown Raleigh. I also think there is a heartwalk out in RTP also some time in the spring. Let's talk more after my surgery.
I LIKE this idea! Can't wait to get started, my friend!

Hi Angela,
I think that all of the events you brought up sound great. I especially like the idea of having a 1 mile fun run available for those who might not be up to a longer event just yet.
After you get back from your surgery and come up for air, let's get together and talk.
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers,

Hi Karla Anne,
This is just the type of thing that I'm talking about! I think doing something where we can enjoy one another and help others as well help ourselves is really great.
Let's talk and walk together!

Great Harvey!
As soon as I get all the details, I'll be posting them. I'll probably see about getting several underway so that if you can't make to one, there will be another that you can do.
I really look forward to this. I think it will be a great way for us to do some nice things for ourselves and others.
