I'm HOME!!!
Well, as some of you know, my DH updated everyone after my surgery. So, here's just a little more detail and another update. When I woke up in recovery I was an a great deal of pain and felt very nauseaus. It took about 20 minutes to get me comfortable, but once they did I felt good. I was taken to my room around noon and felt pretty good. I called the nurse's station around 2 pm and asked if I could go walking. She said are you sure you're ready and I said yes. I went longer and further than she expected, but I was feeling good, so I figured why not. I spent most of the afternoon and evening walking. Even when I couldn't sleep at 3 AM I was up walking. The nurses were really amazed at my progress (and so was I). Anyway, yesterday was a pretty good day, but I knew I didn't feel as energetic or as good as I had felt the day/night before, but it still wasn't bad until about 10 PM last night. About that time was when I started feeling really crampy and then the nausea hit. The nurse brought me some pain medicine to drink, but I couldn't even think about drinking it because I was so nauseaus. Then I started dry heaving (sorry TMI) for a few hours. The nurse ended up putting pain medication and nausea medicing in my IV because I couldn't get anything in orally. It definitely helped, but an hour or so later it started all over again. Needless to say, I was up dry heaving until about 3:30 AM. It was during that time that I had my, "What the heck have I done to myself? and Why did I do this to myself?" I fell asleep until about 5 AM when they came to take my vitals. Then I fell asleep until about 7:50 when the Dr. Moran came in. He said he wanted to make sure I could keep some liquids down and to keep walking and then he'd see about getting me discharged the afternoon. Well, I got up and did my walking and did keep some liquid down and was brought discharge papers around 10 AM. Needless to say, we hit the highway just before 11 AM, got home around noon, and got unpacked and settled in. I had pain meds around 1. Been sipping my water and walking and did take a shower. Had a nice little emotional moment (cry session) with my husband and now I'm feeling better. My MIL brought my daughter by today to visit for a little bit. That was great. She's going to spend one more night with grama and then she'll come back home tomorrow. During my little cry session my DH reminded me that our daughter is one of the reasons I did this and that now we'll be teaching her good healthy eating habits and the importance of exercise and we'll be able to do more things as a family now. I took my pain meds about an hour and a half ago and it's really starting to make me groggy, so I think I'll go for now, but I just wanted everyone to know that I'm home and doing well so far (knock on wood). I'll write more tomorrow when my mind is a little more fresh. Thanks to all of you who kept me in your thoughts and prayers.
Glad to hear you are home and you had a decently easy time. My worst moment was waking up in recovery.. I was nauseated and started throwing up blood. No biggie... it ended soon enough. WLS is like having a baby. You have pain and discomfort, but after its all over you focus on the positive thing you carried away from the experience and the pain/discomfort/bad memories fade.
Welcome to the rest of your life! And hey.. now you are a loser like the rest of us! LOL

Welcome home! Glad your surgery went well but sorry you have had a few not-so-well moments. I use the child-birth analogy like Jennifer did all the time now when talking about having had WLS. She put it perfectly!
