We're right about the same. My six months is Feb. 8th and as of today I'm at 83 lbs down. I'm thrilled with where I'm at. Size wise I've gone from a size 26 to a 16/18. Life is good.

Hi Patricia,

I think that is question that we all have had. We want to know if we are making the most of this incredible opportunity. I know that I really struggled with it myself. When I was about 6 months postop I was concerned because I had just lost about 50 lbs. and thought that I should have lost more.

I found a website created by a fellow WLS patient that had RNY. This fellow has created a site that calculates your percentage of excess weight loss based on your progress since surgery and demographics. It takes into account your starting weight at surgery, your height, age, and sex, as well as your current weight. When I thought I wasn't doing well, I found that I was projected to lose over 80 percent of my excess weight based on my progress to date. Eventually, I got that number to 100 percent loss of my excess weight. Believe it or not, I didn't like what I looked like or felt like that slim and gained back a few pounds, so now I'm at about 94 percent.

You can find the information at www.thinnerself.com. He also has a wonderful thing that allows you to graphically 'see' your size change as you enter your measurements.

Hey Guys:

I've been asking the same question here...I will be 6 months out Feb. 22... I am down 89 pounds...So, I think we are all on target.  My doctor said that it my progress is normal as well.  I guess I want it to go off overnight...but I know i didn't get this way overnight.....  Dropping down from super obese to obese has really made a difference in my life.  I know i  just need to stay encouraged and learn patience.
