Why are you doing this?

I have a very long list of reasons that I did this, but I have a short list that I keep in my wallet, on the back of a 'fat photo' and on post-its on my mirror, in my car and in my kitchen.

I look at that list everyday and affirm to myself why I'm doing what I'm doing. If I am going to make a choice that is questionable, I review the list and ask myself if temporary pleasure is with the risk.

I'll share my list of why I'm doing this, please share your list of reasons you are doing this.

I am doing this because:

I want to live longer and healthier.

I want to provide a good, healthy example for my daughter.

I want to feel beautiful

I love feeling so much stronger and younger

I don't hurt all the time anymore.

I can fit anywhere and into anything; clothes, airline seats, booths.

I did it because life is not real long and i am handicapped enough in other areas for obesity to rule the roost.

I did it to make Walmart Pharmacy stock go to the bucket since I dont have to take a handfull of pills and inject my ol gut everyday.

I did it because when on my dumbest day it was the smart decision to make reguardless of the outcome.

I did it because it so I could spend more time in life with the people I love and care about.

I did it because now I have to eat right or pay the penalty.

I did it because it was the tool I needed to make things right in my personal world.

Had I not done it I would just be another blob on the screen of obesity R us calenders. Then I would never have had the chance to get to know all of yall that I have met.

Barbara comes up with good ideas.. Thanks for the start off..

I did this so I could finally get pregnant.  (That part worked - I forgot to specify that I didn't want to sit in the hospital on bed rest for almost half of my pregnancy.  Hmmmm...I'll have to remember those details next time. - 3 weeks on bed rest though and I'm still here, hoping for 9 more!)

I did this so I could continue life side by side with my wonderful, energetic, active husband instead of always finding excuses of why we shouldn't do things and staying behind.

I did this so I could stay away from the health complications that I was hurtling towards (diabetes, osteoarthritis, hypertension, etc.)

I did this so I could look and live like the person I knew I was inside.

There's a lot more, but those are the big ones.

:)  Thanks Barb!

Hey Deb,

I love your list! It really hits all the important things in life doesn't it? Health and quality of life...

Wishing you a couple of more months of 'peaceful' bedrest.

Well, my list is not too long... but hopefully it says it all.  I like to call it my ABC list.

A) Active (be more active and enjoy a healthier lifestyle)
B) Balance (have more balance in my life, work, play, etc. instead of being the slug who vegges in front of the boob tube)
C) Child (well my daughter to be exact, I want to be here to watch her graduate from college and to walk her down the aisle)

There are 1000s of other reasons why I did this but most of all, I did it for me, to become the person I knew was inside this fat body.  I'm not quite there yet, but each new day brings me 1 lb closer to that end goal.

1) Make diabetes "go away".  Once that happens hopefully the spread of diabetic neuropathy will stop, the organ damage will be averted.
2) Make the fatty liver "go away".
3) Lessen the pressure on my arthritic left hip and impinged nerves in the lower spine.
4) Lower blood pressure.
5) Lower bad cholesterol as diet was not working and I cannot tolerate the medicines.
6) Quit hurting.
7) Get my mobility back.
8) Be able to comfortably travel on my motorcycle.
