I did something daring today!!!

Since I moved here to Greensboro just over two years ago I have wanted to go to church but I have not actually done it. Alot of the reasons are kinda stupid but they are as follows:
1. I felt too fat at 320 pounds to go.
2. I wasn't sure what to wear.
3. I didn't think I had anything appropriate to wear
and so on.......
But I woke up this morning and felt it was time. I got online and checked out the service time for both the church near me of my denomination and the one I attended only a 45 minute drive from here in Chapel Hill. Since I got ready early enough I was able to make it in plenty of time to my little chur*****hapel Hill. I was surprised that a few of the old folks that were friends of my Grandparents recognised me and came up to say hi. I don't know what I was afraid of because I enjoyed the service and seeing folks I grew up around. I have decided to try the new one next week and go back to my old one eevry other week. I don't feel so nervous about it anymore. And I found out I can wear pants to church which is good because I am not ready to invest in nice church clothes quite yet.

Good for you! I know exactly how you feel. My weight is an excuse for not doing a lot of things that I would really like to do. I am just happy that you now feel confident enough in your new skin to do those things. I am really happy for you.

Good for you!!!  I hid for a great part of my life - unfortunately a big part of when my son was growing up - I have many regrets - I missed many things I should not have missed because I was embarrassed about myself and was afraid I would embarrass him.  I can't get that time back but I plan on not missing out on anything else!!!   One regret I do not have - my RNY!!!!

Wow Ann.. I am so glad you found a church to attend where you felt welcomed.  I was fat when I started going to my current church.. but I swear I do not know what I would have done without my relationship with God and my  church family/friends through this journey.   I am so glad you felt comfortable enough to go today.  The wonderful thing is that God loves us just as we are.  :)

Good for you!!! I'm so tickled when I realize that I don't let my size or weight hold me back (anymore). I went to the fitness center yesterday afternoon and my heart just about broke for this young woman that was there. Her husband and 2 kids were in the pool the whole time I was there while she sat on a bench. Her body language was clear - NO WAY,  NO HOW AM I GETTING IN A BATHING SUIT. I remember the feeling oh too well.  As a fabulous WOW moment for me - I bought a new bathing suit - size 16. Love it!!!

Go hit the thrift stores if you want some new church duds - but I'm so glad that casual dress is more widely accepted. Have fun with it.

Great for you going to Church!  We tell everybody that comes to our church that you have to be at least 10 lbs overweight to join our church!!!  God loves us the way we are anyway!
