Couple of things..  2 weeks is not that long to go without losing weight.  I will say this, I would have panicked too.  BUT.. look at the positive side of losing 55 pounds in a little over 2 months.  I would dare say that you could NEVER have done that before or have never lost that much weight in such a short time span.  From time to time your body will take time "off" from losing weight.  It has to adjust to its new shape/weight/situaion.  Just be patient, do what you know is right and weight loss will pick back up.  Don't throw your hands up and think that this is the end of your weight loss.  Sometimes it is hard for me to remember how much I had lost at 2 months, but I just looked at my tracker and I had only lost about 56 pounds.  That was 1 day over my 2 month mark.  Then I logged again on 10/10 that I was at 241, which would only be another 13 pounds in one month.  So just relax.  I would say that you are right on track.  Plus, if you are already under 200 you can certainly expect your weight loss to slow.  I started out well over 300 pounds and was 298 the day of surgery.  The more you have to lose the faster it seems to go at times.

As far as eating, I had a detailed notebook laying out what I could eat and when.  At 2 months I was still on "soft" foods.  I think that certainly varies from doc to doc and nut to nut.  I did not start a regular diet until like 14 weeks out I do think.

Good luck.  Stick to what is RIGHT according to your new lifestyle and BREATHE!  We are here when you need a word of encouragement.

Sweetie,

Your body is taking a much needed and well-deserved break and it will start losing again soon. It took me 5 months to lose what you have lost and we started in the same ballpark. We all lose at different rates. I truly do know how un-nerving it is to hit a stall, but it's absolutely normal. Be sure to keep following your program's guidelines. Make sure you are staying hydrated and are getting in enough calories. At Duke they want us to be getting 800 - 900 calories a day and I have to admit that when I let it drop lower I would find myself stalling, but sometimes it doesn't matter what you do, your body needs to stop and catch it's breath. The good news is you have lost an incredible amount of weight all ready and you will lose much more before the honeymoon is over.

By the time I was 2 months out, I was eating all kinds of things. When I needed something quick, I'd have a protien shake, cottage cheese, sliced turkey, chili or scrambled eggs. It's really work to ensure that you get in all of your protien, supplements and hydration, but you can 'plan' and make it happen.

Wishing you all the best,

Barbara

It sure is great to come in and read this forum. I started today in tears. I have not lost any weight in over a week. Well, that is not so bad you might think but I am not even 3 weeks past my surgery date. I didn't think it would happen so soon. I was really quite upset. I lost 17 lbs in the 2 weeks before surgery and then the first week post op I lost 14 lbs. The second week I lost 6 lbs and since then nothing. Not one darned pound! My 3rd week surgeversary is 1/12. I am still upset about this, but not as much. I know I am only taking in about 300 to 400 cals a day. I am about to start the pureed/soft diet. I am sure I will take in more calories with that. I was worried that I would be even slower in losing weight if I had more calories but now I see that this is probably not the case. I too get busy and forget to eat. I try to keep a drink with me at all times though. ugh.

As you've heard - stalls are just a part of life. Our bodies, brains and other parts have to all play catch up periodically. It's good to take your measurements to have something else to monitor your progress by. It's sorta like everyother roller coaster ride - just before the thrill begins there's that moment when everything standsstill. Buckle up - your ride is just beginning.

#1 - Don't let yourself get away with forgetting your vitamins.  You're putting your new-found body at SERIOUS risk.  They are crucial.  Put them by your toothbrush, send yourself an automatic daily e-mail, set yourself a daily alarm on your cell phone...whatever it takes.  It will be critically important as time goes on that you're getting all of the nutrients and vitamins that you need.

#2 - Food ideas.  Are you on any eating restrictions?  Full food?  Where are you at as far as that goes?  I ate all kinds of things:  One of my favorites for quite some time was homemade meatballs with some marinara sauce.  How about Wendy's chili.  Have you tried that?  Super easy (someone else makes it,) low fat, high protein, etc.  Eggs, cheese (string cheese is an easy one).  I ate a lot of lunch meat too.  That's about all I can think of right now.  I just finished eating a snack so I'm full and am having a hard time thinking of food.  :)  I'm sure others will have some good suggestions.

Good luck, and remember...take those vitamins!  Other than that, your weight loss to point sounds good, and hang in there on the stall.  It happens to just about all of us.

Congrats on seeing your feet!  That is exciting!

Yes, the vitamins are really important.  There are people on some of the other boards that have done irreversible damage to their heart because of not taking vitamins.  Think about it.  Without getting technical or medical, the vitamins help your muscles...the heart is a muscle...nuff said?
