Thanks Barbara...I am still keeping you and your husband in my thoughts.. I know it is not gonna be easy..but well honest i just needed to vent my frustrations. I just never thought i would see this country get this bad and all...the last 3 places i have worked at have closed and moved out of the country. It is truely devestating to many Americans. One day at a time I know..one day at a time...ty hun

I am sorry you and your husband are being laid off. I hope your Father who is a vet (as am I and my husband too) finds peace in the coming year. I also hope you and your family find new jobs and security so you will not have to worry.

Darcie

Thanks Darcie,  My father found another job FINALLY and has been gainfully employed the past year. My husband is a vet as well and is considering going back into the military as a reservist because the jab market is soo unstable. We will make it one way or another. Just me venting and trying to come to terms with my own emotions..thanks again

Hi Pollyann, I'm sorry to hear about your's and your husand's misfortunes. I know what you mean about Nafta. I work for an International Freight Forwarder and our import/export business is WAY down. Plants are closing right and left. If not closing completely, they are laying off like crazy and closing for 1-2 weeks at a time.
We've only had to lay off one lady so far but like you said, it will get alot worse before it gets better. It's the domino effect our government is so successful at producing!

Last year this time, the export vessels were so full we could not get space on any of them for
4-6 weeks out. Now they are calling us begging for freight!

Maybe Obama's 8 billion dollar stimulus package will turn us around.

Good luck to you!

HUGS
Pam

Polly that is tough, you're in my thoughts and prayers....I hope you can find something soon.

I too worry about NC's economy....I hope Obama can do something to turn the economy around and it trickles down to us, because reading the interview in the paper with our new Governor Perdue, I am scared for us more!! I don't think she gets the seriousness of the situation.  A political fundraiser/birthday party for her now when the tickets are from $500 to $10,000 per person???? It shows that she doesn't care how many are facing tough decisions.

Sorry don't mean to turn it into a political whine :)  I hope somehting comes through for you soon---have you considered going back to school?

Hey Polly.. sorry to hear about your layoffs.  I can so relate.  My brother in law was laid off Monday and my husband's plant has cut back to 4 days a week.  Dean is an electrician, so he will be one of the last to go..  but it is very sad that so many people are losing their jobs.  My OH friends are always in my prayers.. and I will say some extra words for you.
