Ok yawl,

My surgery is in 20 days.  I've studied, I've prayed,I've been counciled, I've told parents and friends, my insurance is approved, I love my support group and my OH friends, but I'm also scared.  I know that each one of you have felt the same way.  Now that it is coming down to the nitty gritty, my family and friends now take me seriously.  They truly want what's best for me, but are also scared for me.

Reasons for surgery -

1. Diabetes gone.

2. HTN gone.

3. Knee and hip pain gone.

4. Lethargy gone.

5.  100 pounds gone.

6.  Unable to cross my legs, gone.

7.  Fear of losing my breath when facing stairs or hills gone.

8. Shorter life, gone.

9.  Shopping at plus size departments and stores, gone

10.  Worrying about being the largest in a grou*****t fitting into seats, gone.

11.  Old life, gone.

Well, I guess I answered my own question.  When I look at this I'm not scared but so excited to have this opportunity.  Sometimes it sounds to good to be true.

Deborah

Thanks for listening.

The fear is perfectly normally - and quite frankly I'd only be worried about you if you didn't have at least a little fear or apprehension. I like your list because it does give you a concrete list of goals that you want from this. For me personally, once I crossed off the diabetes I could have cared less if I reached the other goals because in my mind it was never about being a size X, Y or Z or a goal weight. I was able to cross the diabetes off after less than 2 weeks. It was one of my first WOW moments and made me feel like a success.

You are going to be so amazed at how many WOW and AHA moments you'll be adding to your list that you never even imagined. (Sitting in the tub and not touching the sides, the feel of baggy drawers and knowing that you're bra is too big even though it's snapped in the smallest setting)

I can't wait to watch your progress. Have a great Day!!!!!

20 days - wow I remember back then when I was getting ready for the surgery and what was it all going to be like.  You are not only going to be able to do all 11 items on your list - but just wait till you find out that you are going to be doing so much more!  This year is going to be so exciting for you and by Christmas of 2009 you will not even believe what you look like.

I wish you all the luck and have a great ride in 2009!
