I used to burn up before WLS.  Dean and I would argue about me freezing HIM all of the time.  Now, the shoe is on the other foot.  I STAY cold.  LOL  I will wear long sleeves in July...

But.. I suppose all of those pounds we lose does serve as a good insulator at least.

Yeah Jennifer I'm the same way before surgery it would always be cold in my house and if anybody came over I would give them a cover because I wasn't going to be hot but now I have the heat on more than ever and I'm only 3 months out does it get worst?

Hi Cindy,

Thanks for the link to Kay's article. She always has something interesting to say, doesn't she? I know that my personal thermostadt was just going crazy while I was losing, I'd be burning up one minute and cold the next. Generally, it's gotten better, but I must admit that I do get cold easier than I used to and if I get really cold, it's harder for me to warm up. All of that said, if this continues for the rest of my life, it will be just fine. I can always put a sweater on!

Thanks again,

Barbara

I'm the true beach girl who always went barefooted. It didn't matter if it was January or August - I never wore shoes. Crud - I didn't own but about 2 pairs of socks. Things - they have changed. I can't get enough layers on. i keep a pack of socks and a blanket under my desk at work (and my boss believes in keeping it warm in here).

My whole family teases me about this. My Mom loves it because she has always been cold natured. A very good friend of mine moved to Michigan and would love for me to come visit - no way no how in the winter time and I'm not to sure about the summer either.

Gotta go unfurl my blanket - my toes are cold.

Before RNY I was ALWAYS burning up. The AC would be on 24/7 and Id freeze hubby right out the house in the winter. Id wear shorts even if it was freezing outside. Now I get cold very quickly and always have to wear socks even with the heater on. Thats ok though Ill trade being cold for being thin anyday!!

I'm 3 years out and still freezing all the time.  I never took my electric blanket off my bed this summer.  All my labs are fine so I know nothings wrong, just always cold. My family can't hardly live with me.

This is a great article.  Even though its been almost 5 and a half years since my RNY, I still stay cold all the time.  In the winter, I always have on at least two layers, including thermals.  I love the summer when its 85 degrees outside, its the only time I wear shorts.  My fingers and toes stay cold all the time.  I've even had people tell me I should start taking meds to increase my blood pressure. LOL
