Baby Update #2
Hi all,
I'm sorry for taking so long with my updates. I have grand plans to spend all kinds of time updating things, and then by the time I respond to a few e-mails and catch up on things I'm smoked. It's goofy how laying around just perpetuates being tired. :)
Things here are going well. I am officially into week 24, which was Major Milestone #1. :) This is the point where all Dr's agree on baby's viability. Ugh. I hate even thinking about things that way, but I want to keep some healthy mix between optimism and reality. Thankfully Ryan and I are totally on the same page. We want to be as informed as possible so we can be prepared for what may come our way. At the same time, we realize that it's completely outside of our control at this point, and we'll just have to wait and see how it all turns out. My only means of making any difference is to sit here like a good patient and not stress out, so that's what I'm doing! :) Tuesday's ultrasound showed that fluid levels are still very low (no surprise there, since I'm still leaking), but there is still some fluid, so apparently that' s good. Overall baby still looks good, still breech, with butt sitting down in my pelvis and feet, hands and head up towards my chest. Moving like crazy now, yesterday we felt a foot or elbow, or something sticking out of my belly. That was crazy, but cool. :)
Yesterday I got moved into a new room. It's about twice the size as the last one with 3 huge windows and enough of a view to keep me happy. :) I can see people, cars, trees, clouds and morning sun - very cheerful! I guess they're trying to keep me comfortable, which is working! It was reassuring that they feel strong enough that I'll be here for awhile, that it was worth the trouble to move me. :)
Ryan had to go back to work today & Friday, so he went home yesterday afternoon. It feels weird being here without him, but 2 days is probably a good trial period. He promised to keep his cell phone handy & told me to call if/when anything changes. It sounds like his commander is working on a plan so he can spend some time during the week at work, and some up here with me. I've had lots of visitors, including Ben & Barb yesterday. Thanks for the knitting gear and reminder lessons, Barb. It turns out it's just like getting back on a bicycle! :) It is nice to have something to do with my hands while I'm watching TV. I have lots of books, magazines, games, and goodies to keep me occupied and fed. So, things are going well and I'm feeling pretty settled in.
We're still super-thankful for each additional day we get to grow .
