I luv you guys-but still hate my Drs....

I promised everyone in my last post that I would keep updating on my dilemma re: left side pain. If I don't stand, sneeze, cough, breathe, or bend, or sit up, then I'm fine. Ugh!  My PCP has referred me to the gastro. I called gastro Dr and begged to get in pre-Feb and I did it (Yeah!) Gastro sent me for Upper Gi, since CT and Ultrasound showed nothing.  Of course, no one is giving me answers yet and the calls I made today went unanswered.  At this point, I'm sure nothing will show but I really hope it does, so they can fix it.

I did get ahold of Duke and was not able to call Hickory, yet.  Duke promised they would call me back and that was a week ago - no call yet.  Not impressed.

I spoke with my surgeon in Florida and his office people told me that it could be an internal hernia, but I've yet to figure out who/what will determine that.  Any thoughts?  From what I've read from you guys and internet research, that sounds like what I'm dealing with.  So who do I call next?  I joking told my hubby that I was going to call a plastic surgeon and get a tummy tuck at the same time. :-)

Keep thinking of me tomorrow - I have to drive my daughter to Chapel Hill for a Dr appt and I'm not looking forward to that 5 hour drive each way.  Thankfully hubby is driving-I'm just passenger, but I've told him to prepare for extra stops.

Good night ya'll!

I think I would be calling my PCP or that Gastro doc and have a little fit until they did something about the issue.  I hate it when doctors are indifferent when I believe there is a problem.

Keep us posted.  You are in my prayers.

I truly believe you have to push to get anything done.. Call again and get the results from your test.  And do you keep copies of your chart??  I mean the reports that the doctors get?  If not, start getting them, they will help if you need to go to another office.  Like Hickory or Duke.  If you have the recoreds in your possession, then it will save a lot of time of faxing and requesting the info.
And these records are yours, don't let someone in the office tell you that you can't have a copy.  Push, Push, Push...

Hope things get better soon.

I agree with you guys that you have to push the Drs, but sometimes you have to wonder why.  They should be more willing to work for you, not against you.  My 2 cents.....

Anyway-gastro Dr finally called me back (PCP still hasn't) and told me that the Upper GI looked just fine but he wants me to go see a surgeon.  Unfortunately, due to the insurance, he cannot refer me to one, my PCP has to do that.  So I'm going to call them as soon as 9:00 hits.  I don't know if it will be a general surgeon, bariatric surgeon, or Bozo-the surgeon.  Kind of scary!

I'll keep you updated.
