Hi Shalonda and welcome to the NC forum. I'm a newbie too, but have found so much great information and support from the people on this board. You and I have actually messaged each other already. I'm the one who is having surgery Jan. 14th with Dr. Moran at Rex Hospital and I sent you some questions. Thanks for your responses by the way. It was really helpful. I had my last appointment with him today and then I had an appt. at Rex for my pre-admission stuff. My surgery is at 7:15 AM next Wednesday. I'm really glad to have the first slot, so I can get it over with. I asked Dr. Moran about the blood pressure monitor you were talking about and he said not everyone gets that. It depends on the anesthesiologist. I was really hoping I wouldn't get it because you said it was painful. Well, needless to say, when I met with the anesthisiologist today at Rex he brought it up and said he puts in all his patients whether they have high blood pressure or not (which I do not). Oh well. Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi again and I'll probably be messaging you over the next week with any questions that pop in my head that I forgot to ask Dr. Moran today. Are you going to be attending the support group that Dr. Moran's office has each month? I haven't been yet, but plan to start going after my surgery. Who knows, maybe we'll eventually meet face-to-face. Congratulations on your weight loss and I wish you continued success.

Welcome Shalonda. I am fairly new here as well but have felt very welcome. I had my surgery on 12/22 so we are about in the same boat. Good luck with your continued weight loss.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.  This board seems a lot nicer than some of the other boards on here (I'm sure most of you know to which ones I am referring.  Anyway, I look forward to talking with you all in the future.

hl1106 - I'm sorry that you will have to deal with that internal blood pressure monitor thing but the good part is that most of the time that it is in, you will be knocked out anyway.  And they do take it out shortly after your surgery so don't worry too much.  (I didn't mean to scare you).  I would like to attend the support group meetings that Dr. Moran has but I am in school and my classes are on Thursday evenings and the support group meets on a Thursday.  I only have four classes left so when I'm done, I will probably attend more.  Don't worry too much about things.  Dr. Moran is great and so are the nurses at Rex.  I'm sure you will be fine and if you have any other questions (before or after), I'll be glad to answer.
