Okay it's time to really introduce myself...

((((Stacey)))),

Please do come and share often. I think that you will find us to be a warm, welcoming, supportive group... regardless of the type of surgery you and your Dr. determined was the best for you. While RNY is dominant here ... it's the dominant surgery type everywhere ... you will find that we have representation from many surgery types, including DS, Fobi Pouch, VSG, Mini Gastric Bypass, LapBand, Realize Band, and I'm sure a few more that are slipping my mind right now. It's great that we have surgery specific groups that can answer surgery specific questions for us, but I think that you will find that this group has a reasonable amount of diversity and more than that, it's filled with wonderful southern charm and civility. I doubt that you'll ever find anyone flaming anyone else.

I'd also love to extend an invitation to join me at the Raleigh Area Support Group Get Togethers that I host once a month. Again, many of the members of this group have had RNY, but we have a very large, diverse group and you will find others that have had your surgery type and/or are from your program. We meet on the 3rd Saturday of each month. We have a few members that hail from your area ... we also have a number that drive in from Wilson, Rocky Mount, Fayetteville, Winston-Salem, on, and on.... You can get information about upcoming meetings at http://wls.meetup.com/101

Again, welcome to our group and I look forward seeing 'less' of you and hearing from you  more often.

All the best,

Barbara

Welcome!

Let me echo what everyone else has said.  This forum is great for everyone who has had any form of WLS.   And the more folks, with the more diversity, the better!  Please DO come to one of the Saturday morning get togethers in Raleigh.  I've only been to four so far but find them SOOOOO valuable and full of warmth and support... I look forward to them like a TREAT and really hate it when I have to be out of town and miss one.

hugs,

Fre

 Hi Stacey,

No such thing as a 3rd wheel here on the NC Board!  :)  I'm glad you've decided to introduce yourself and I'm willing to bet you'll find this is one of your favorite places on OH.  Everyone here is so loving and supportive, and I think the only time surgery type comes up is if there are specific questions about a side effect or problem someone's having.  Even then, it's totally factual to try to help solve a problem, not emotionally charged like on some other boards.

Congrats and best of luck as you embark on your new journey, and welcome!

Hi Stacey!
You couldn't ask for a nicer more welcoming bunch than right here. I was welcomed with open arms and am so glad I stopped lurking and introduced myself. Welcome!

Hi Stacey,

I'm a newbie to this board as well (I usually lurk around) but from what I have seen, the people on this board are awesome.  You will fit right in no matter what surgery you have had.  We are all in the same boat when it comes to adjusting to life after WLS.  So welcome and happy posting.
