Pregnancy Update Week 23 #1
Deb,
I wanted to let you know that my neice was born at 23 weeks and 3 days. She was an IUGR baby (intrauterine growth restriction) and my sister had a placental abruption. She was born still and blue. She weighed 1lb 14oz, below the point where the doctors said they would intervene. They put a blanket on her and weighed her again to get her to the 2lb mark, (the level where their protocol permitted intervention.)
She is now a beautiful healthy nine year old girl who had no problems except for some minor and correctable issues with her vision. I hope you are able to carry your baby to term, but if not I hope the outcome for you is just as fabulous as her's was. No matter what they say, keep fighting for them to do everything you feel is best for your baby.
