16 - can you say a size 16. 16 16 16 16 16 16 16 16 16 16 16 16 16 16 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a way to end the year. I wanted something nice to wear to work today so I picked out a rag cloth blazer (size 18) that I'd been given and decided that it needed a white turtle nexk (L) and some black slacks. Well the first black pants I saw in the closet were these size 16 and I figured WTH I'll try them and see how much longer til they fit. HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to have 2 teeth pulled Monday afternoon so my face is puffy and sore as all get out so I probably won't take any pictures but I just had to share.

OT: The dating thing is going remarkably well. I'll post more on that next year. Let's just say it looks like a promising 2009. I called 2008 the year of the Iris - and I learned how to put myself first for a change so I'm not quite sure what to name 2009. Any suggestions?

How about "The Year of the Blooming Iris"?  I'm so proud of you!  Size 16!!!!  I was stoked about fitting in a size 22 this week!  It's been 24 years since I was in that size!  Happy New Year to the new "us", and I promise we'll get together sometime and go bike riding!

SIXTEEN!!!  Iris, that is just fabulous!!!  I haven't been in a size 16 for about 20 or so years.  Wow.  I can't even imagine.

Wikipedia says, "Iris is a genus of between 200-300 species of flowering plants with showy flowers. It takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow, referring to the wide variety of flower colors found among the many species."

2009 is sure to be a Rainbow Year for you, Iris!  :)

{{{Hugs}}} and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Congratulations!!! Getting into a size 16 for me was the true heralding of a new chapter because you can get 16s in just about any store and any designer... It meant to me that I was finally getting to be a normal size. Like you, I hadn't been a normal size for decades and it was truly an amazing feeling.

ENJOY your new year's eve in your new size 16's!

Congrats Iris!!   I have been wearing a size 18 and the ppl at work have been yelling at me that they are to big and a homeless family can move in them with me.   They asked me if i would still be wearing them when i am a size 12 as I have a hard time accepting I am smaller than that.  It has been 20 years since i have even been in an 18.   Well after looking at my back end and seeing gathers all over, i am finally going to shop on Friday as I have the day off and get some 16s.    I don't understand why i won't give up these 18s but it has been a real mental block for me.   I am so tickled for you and my vote goes for the Blooming Iris or even Blossoming Iris!!   I am glad the dating is going well.

Love,

Pam

Oh girls I'm liking the year of the rainbow - means a lot to me as all of God's promises mean so very much to me and that's what rainbows mean to me.  This may seem hokey to some of you - so keep your flames to yourselves - my friends will understand this. I heard a sermon a few months ago that was about thanking God in advance for the blessing he'll be sending your way - for example if you're looking for a job - start thanking him now for what he has in store for you. If you want a better marriage - thank him now for the end result. So I started thanking him for the relationship that he would be sending to me - basically the relationship that he's been preparing me for. ( I hope I'm explaining this well enough). I've thanked him for this daily and multiple times during the day. So it just seemed to click when I meant David. He truly seems to be one of those old souls that has always been a part of my life. So anyway - we didn't make plans for tonight because he had accepted a party invitation prior to having ever met me. So he's called a few times while he's been there tonight and has decided to leave and come home early so we can ring in the new year together - isn't that sweet? I'm not saying that he's the "ONE" but dang close.

Happy New Year everyone!!!!

Iris,  The term "Rainbow Year" is used in various ways...like when a company has a great sales year, they've had a rainbow year...or when an athlete has a great season, he's had a rainbow year.  When I mentioned it earlier, I was also thinking of all of your upcoming wow moments in 2009 as your pots of gold at the end of your rainbow.  :)  It's extra special that this has even deeper meaning for you than all these ideas.

Hope you and David enjoy ringing in the New Year together...he sounds super sweet!

We're all curled up here in my bedroom (all 7 of us -- 5 human, 2 fur-babies!) watching Anderson and Kathy, ready to toast, kiss, and hug!  lol

Happy New Year, Iris!
