Too Pushy???

I went to my decision appt last week (Tuesday) and the dr. told me that we had to wait for insurance to approve before setting a date.  He said that since they were out of the office W-F the transcriptions would be done Mon (yesterday) and it would probably be faxed to the ins. co. today.  Called the ins. co. and they have yet to receive anything.  Would it be too pushy of me to call the dr's office to see if the info ha indeed been sent?  I am so anxious I don't know what to do!!!  And knowing that the ins. co. and dr's office will probably be closed the rest of this week...arrrggghhh!!!  Thanks!

I don't think it's too pushy to call and ask. If you're anything like me you will drive yourself crazy wanting to know. You'll feel much better if you just call and ask. It will give you peace of mind. Good luck.

Thanks for the support.  I did call and the receptionist acted like she dealt with these calls all the time. She looked it up and found that the letter had not been written yet by the nurse and because there was only one nurse working last week and this week it was taking a little longer than usual.  She did say that BCBS was one of the quicker ins. co.s to work with.  I'm going to call again tomorrow.

You and I have the same Dr. and I know they're really nice about calls.  They don't mind at all if you need to call with questions.  I bugged them to death about making sure my secondary insurance had come through with a guarantee to pay the co-pays.  I too have State Employees BCBS and they approved me within 24 hours after Dr. Chapman's office submitted the paperwork.  They are quick!!

I made the call when i was going through this as if we are not our own advocate, who will be.   We can't help be anxious once we have made the decision.

Good luck,

Pam

Heck no it's not "pushy".  Do you really care if they get upset with you?  It's one of the most important decisions you will ever make and you are well within your right to be anxious about it and want to know what's going on.

Good luck to you

Nope not pushy at all.  Sometimes there is something missing or overlooked and by the time they get around to calling you, much time has passed.  Better to call and have them say 'oh, not done yet cause we seem to have misplaced your blah, blah'.  Then you can say 'oh, I have a copy of that, I'll fax it right over!'  Be proactive!

Dont EVER think you are being too pushy!! If I hadnt called my doctors office the one and only insurance girl would of called me probably a WEEK later to let me know I had been approved. Too them you are a piece of paper, they dont know the anxiety that works up when waiting for this HUGE decision! They are PAID to answer the phone so CALL CALL CALL!! LOL
