Feeling sad and a little lost
My husband and I just got back from putting our 19 year old cat down. I knew this day was coming but I kept hoping not for a long time. Maggie Mae was one of our children (we have 3 kitties) and a part of lives for a long time. It just feels different not having her here with me.
Maggie went into kidney failure while I was getting ready for work this morning. I am grateful that it happened before I left and she would have had to suffer alone.
I apologize for unloading this on all of you, but felt a need to share. I know I don't write a lot but each and everyone of you are a part of my daily life and I appreciate all that you share.
On a good note: I truely have enjoyed each and everyone of the Christmas cards I received.
Thank you so very much for just being you,
Always,
Carrie
Hey Carrie,
I feel your pain, honey. My kitty, Haggis, doesn't have long either. His kidneys are also failing. He's had to be rushed to the emergency vet more than once, he eats very little of his special "kidney diet," he's skin and bones, lethargic, and we're giving him sub-q fluids three times a week now to keep his poor little kidneys flushed. I don't know how much longer he's going to last, but I'm guessing it won't be long. Months? That's probably optomistic. Poor little baby.
We have 3 other cats and a dog too. They are our only children. See pictures of all my babies at: bangertmusic.tripod.com/trufflestreasures/id5.html
Haggis is the orange and white cat about halfway down the page.
Note that Frosty, pictured at 20 lbs, is now 22 lbs. Frosty may need a gastric bypass too!! LOL!

Your babies are beautiful. All 4 of them. I used to breed Persian cats but became alergic to the cat dander and had to sell out. I lasted less than 1 year with no cats, then acquired Maggie Mae and a short hair calico, Callie approximately 19 years ago. All my kitties have been rescues from then on.
Again thanks so much for your reply, I truely appreciate it.
Its good you were there and recognized she was in trouble. As any pet lover can relate, its always a sad day when we lose a member of our family. I get up everymorning and check to see if my 15 going on 16 (in Feb) year old Bichon is breathing. I can't even think about what it will be like around our house with out her being my shadow. Give the other kitties some extra love, their going to be wondering what happend to their friend. Pets grieve too. Take care and try to enjoy your holiday.

I hope you are able to enjoy many more days, weeks and months with your baby.
I really appreciate your reply, it means a great deal to know others feel the same way about their pets the same way I do.
Have a very Happy Holiday.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
