Kinda bummed

Hi all,
Had my decision visit today.  Everything (bloodwork, anesthesia consult, yada-yada-yada) is pefect but because of the holidays and the way the insurance companies work (or don't work) through the holidays, I won't know anything from them for a couple of weeks.  This means I won't have my surgery on January 9th (the date I wanted because time off from work would be less).  A little bummed but now understanding that it may be for the best because I will be able to recuperate better without my children home most of those days.

Did any of you ever feel like the decision visit could have been done over the phone?  I drove an hour and a half today to get there for him to tell me that everything looked good and they would submit to the insurance.  Yikes!!!

Sorry...just had to vent a little.  Just anxious and wanting this to be done already!!!

Oh, absolutely.  The same happened with my DH.  Drive nearly 2 hours, wait another hour, talk to the doctor for 5 minutes!  Definately could have been done over the phone!  And we thought that would be his last appt before surgery.  Oh No!  He still has to go in 2 weeks before surgery for his "H&P" - whatever that is.  The only thing that could NOT have been done over the phone was the anestheseologist visit.  He measured my DH's neck and looked down his throat.  But that could have been done during his H&P visit on the 16th!

One thing that DID concern us was, during the decision appt, Dr, Pender never asked for Ray's decision.  He just assumed he wanted the RNY.  Just as he was gathering his papers to leave, I said, this is for the lap band, right?  He said 'oh, the lap band?'  We did get 5 more minutes of his time while he told us how unsuccessful that could be (weight loss wise).  Ray says the day of surgery I should tape a huge sign to his chest that says 'lap band only'!

Hang in there Ginny.  You have to make the insurance company happy to make this happen.  And that means, 'hurry up and wait'.

In my head I know all that is true but I've had my heart set on this for so long now.  It's so hard to be patient.  I had a reason for wanting the surgery so early...I have barely any sick leave and my school will not let me take my vacation time when the kids are in school.  Those two weeks I would lose less time.  Oh, well...best laid plans...
I'm still looking forward.  He did tell me by next year this time I should be between 135 and 145 which is perfect!  I haven't been there ince I was 12! (if then)  Thanks for the vote of confidence.  I'm learning to lean on this group more and more!
