I'm home
I had my surgery yesterday and spent last night with the dry heaves. I cannot stand the pain meds. They all make me sick. I got home today late afternoon. I feel fairly good. I am trying to walk around the house to get rid of some of the gas that I have. I am having troubel with water since it is taste less but I am allowed to have broth and I am sipping on that. Thanks for all of your prayers.
Hey Sandy, welcome to the other side! Call and get another script for different pain meds before the Holiday hours kick in and you cant ahold of anyone and nowhere to get it filled! And ounce of prevention.....you know. Water problems.......that's why God made Crystal Light! LOL. Merry early Christmas! Hope to see you soon!

Sandy!!! You're HOME!!! Hey, girl!! I've been thinking about you!! You were only in the hospital ONE night?!? That's incredible! You'd be amazed at how good broth tastes when you're not allowed much else! The pain med, that liquid stuff, does taste like crap, but if you're in pain, just grin and bear it. Plus, it might help you sleep too. Getting comfortable will be an issue the first week. That pain medicine can help with that as well. Most of my gas seemed to come out in BURPS, and a little gassy diahrrea. Was your mouth dry before they let you drink something? I found that very cold water makes me a little nauseous. Strange, but true.
I had my follow up visit and as of today I can eat soft foods!! Hooray!! For the next week I'm on eggs, cheese, yogurt, peanut butter, milk and couscous (which is a like a teeny, tiny pasta). I'm limited to 1/4 cup per meal. My clever husband, concerned about me eating with the rest of the family for Christmas, suggested that quiche may be a good substitute for our regular holiday meal since it's basically eggs and cheese! So, we went to Harris Teeter tonight on the way home and bought me a quiche! This year will forever be referred to as the year of the "Christmas Quiche."
