Update on me

I went up to G'Vegas today and I was the first person seen by Dr. Mann... (I watched him drive in the parking lot from the exam room window LOL) He came in and we talked about what was going on. He said I need a scope but with the hectic schedule of the next few weeks the first available appointment is January 14th. He does not do them at his office so he has to rely on the appointments at another facility that they use. He did write me prescriptions and is treating me like I have a ulcer until he can get inside and take a look. He prescribed Carafate which is a liquid yuck tasting medicine that *coats* the ulcer and thanks to that, I feel better. Not 100% better but I can tell it is working. He also put me on prescription strength chewable Prevacaid. He told me I need to up my fluids or he was going to put me in the hospital I am looking forward to being pain free...its still hurts but not as much as this weekend. I was also told to get some Boost to meet my nutrition needs as I lost another pound and need to try and maintain my weight. Thanks to everyone that sent me private messages....it really meant a lot to me. Time for another dose!

I am sorry you are having issues right now. I do hope the carafate and prevacid gives you some sort of relieve. Maybe someone will cancel their appt. and you may get to go in earlier than Jan 14th. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Hey Darcie,

I read your post yesterday and I'm sorry you are feeling bad, especially here at Christmas.  I'm seeing Dr. Mann also.  At our last support meeting at Nash, we were discussing a case where a patient, that was one year out, was having severe abd. pain.  They treated it like an ulcer, however nothing worked.  After interviewing the patient further and putting their heads together, they discovered the drink she was was drinking so much of was causing her the pain.  It's the tropicana sugar free orange.  It's not carbonated but is full of citric acid.  I happened to see her a few days later in the waiting room and she felt like a new person after stopping the drink.

Just something to think about.  Hope things work out for you real soon.
