I have tried several and when I was in the first two weeks and really needing alot of protein in small quantaties. i had the tubs of protein that have 27 grams per serving. It took a while to get them down but it also allowed for good consumption. I then began to drink Atkins shakes since they were in self contained containers and easy to sip on to get them down. I did get some of the powder stuff and its fine as well but I wound up having to get lactaid in order to make the milk part work out with it. You may want to sample some different products prior to surgery if for nothing else to see if you like them.

Sandy, Congrats.. Your big day is almost here!

About the protien drinks, I'm 2 weeks out and still don't know what to tell you! LOL I didn't like hardly any of them, but drank them because I had to! I went to a few different sites that sell the protien and asked them to send me samples... That helped alot!  The Syntrax matrix was the best I guess.. They sent samples. Here is the website http://www26.netrition.com/syntrax_matrix_page.html

after you go there click on Contact us.. Give them your mailing info and they will send you samples.

Hope that helps,

Cindy

Someone else on the forum I know personally as well recommended Unjury brand.  It is very good quality, medical grade whey isolate protein.  I have the chocolate and unflavored.  Here's the link:

I have even mixed the chocolate into Swiss Miss diet hot chocolate!  As long as the hot chocolate isn't boiling hot you can do it.  Great on a cold night.  This was one of the things I did before my surgery to lose 48 pounds.  I use the protein powder to make my own shakes as well with Lactaid milk, Greek yogurt, maybe a banana and natural peanut butter too.  Delicious!
