When the doctor did my bypass...I think he took out 1/2 of my...
BRAIN!!! I'm not the kind of person who loses things, forgets things, misplaces things or makes many mistakes. I'm not being arrogant, it's just not my nature because I'm too careful about everything. Seems like lately I'm forgetting things like shutting off my hair straightener, losing things like important papers at work, putting things in the freezer that don't belong, and making lots of mistakes in my writing like writing "afforded" instead of "addressed". It's just all so weird...and so not like me. I will admit I'm under massive amounts of stress, but I've been stressed before and nothing like this happend. When I went home for Christmas my mom said "I think your doctor accidently took out your brain or something." Did this happen to any of you?

I've read about others having the same issues (on the main forum page I believe). For me personally I deal with the self diagnosed "Scatterbrainedness" when my hormones are out of whack or when I'm super stressed. I've become the queen of lists to help me remember stuff. It's not enough for me to write down - pay phone bill on the list. I have to add other steps that reads - buy stamps and another for mail phone bill. When the hormones are in check and the stress level is controlled then the lists aren't as necessary. Oh and please don't ask me to remember anyone's name - it's next to impossible.

I agree with Iris... I had scatterbrainedness for a while after my RNY, I think I'm back on kilter now - or maybe I'm just used to my scatterbrinedness... lol! I've also been the one that remembers everything, is very organized and doesn't let things confuse me, well for about a year after my RNY I thought I was loosing it. I am happy to report that it didn't last too long for me. I hope you'll forgive yourself and let it pass, and it will pass!
