More changes

I'm amazed at how many changes have occured since surgery - outwardly and on the inside. In a post last week Suzanne asked me about my dating. Things have been a little stalled there recently but I took her recommendation on using the site plentyoffish.com and lo and behold I had a lunch date yesterday. First impressions about him were very good. We traded numbers and he called last night to say he had a nice time and would I like to go out again.  YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also hosted a holiday dinner party for my in-laws (the entire family).MY house is decorated from top to bottom. I used a very formal plate setting and table decorations. It looked like something out of a magazine - and the food was awesome (even if I only ate 3 bites) We. had a wonderful time and I had energy to spare after the house was cleaned back up and everyone had gone home.

Although neither one of these events is directly related to my WLS - the fact that I actually did them is. 5 or 6 months ago I lacked the self confidence, energy or just plain out desire to undertake these sort of things. I still say that WLS is the very best thing I have ever done for myself.

My scales didnt move this week - but I'm OK with that because I know to expect it occassionally. All the other changes in my life more than made up for a loss in weight this week.

Iris,

I think that the things that you shared are what are often refered to as Non Surgical Victories, or NSV's and I think that they are every bit as important and in some ways even more, because once you resolve the health issues, it's really the quality of life issues that really make this journey rewarding.

Thanks so much for sharing your NSVs!

Yes, QUALITY of life...that is why I did this.  I am so glad you are reaping the rewards, Iris.  It sounds like you find yourself thinking "Life Is Good!" many times over these days!

I love my life!!!! There are so many rewards to having had WLS. I can't wait til you really start to experience these. Knowing how involved you were in the deck remodeling before surgery - you're house will reap the benefits too.

Oh - a kitty update - We're down to only one kitty. I was worried that 2 were in very poor health and sure enough they didn't make it. BUT - Mr. Arlo is thriving. He loves to snuggle up to the dogs and sleep in the sunshine. My black lab has taken over Moma duties and is often seen grooming and fleaing on the little bugger. ****il he knows someone is watching and then he tries to growl and be all bad - doesn't last long).

I am delighted to hear about your NSVs (although I was told that stood for Non SCALE Victories!), especially to hear that the POF website produced some results.  It has been a useful tool for me in learning all those "dating" skills I never really learned before.  And the vast majority of the people I have met have been very good, decent men.

I know... dating at 59... who woulda thunk it?

Dating is just plain weird anyway - add to that an Internet situation - LOL. I never in a million years thought that's what I'd be doing but hey I'd rather get to know someone online than in a bar. Blind dates scare the bejeepers out of me (had a few too many bad experiences there). So this is a new beginning.

Thanks for the recommendation .

I actually sat on the floor and wrapped some presents today and had no trouble getting up! I could not believe I could actually do it until I found myself there. I had not even realized I was on the floor until the phone rang and I got up in plenty of time to answer it. THats a major NSV for me.
