Does Weight loss = Merrier Christmas???

An observation....

This year, I have been in a much merrier Christmas mood than I have in many, many years.  I decorated the house the day before Thanksgiving, went out shopping early on Black Friday, I'm wearing my Christmas jewelry and enjoying my large selection of Christmas music.  This is a pretty big improvement over the last few years when most of this stuff stayed packed away.  I just didn't have the desire or energy to mess with it.  My DH loves Christmas and is very happy with the change in my Christmas Spirit....

Has anyone else noticed this change in themselves???

I was assuming it was because I just plain felt better and had more energy but yeah. Being able to wear my Mom's clothes has opened up an almost limitless closet of christmas sweaters, vests & sweatshirts. If nothing else, I'm dressed better than ever.

Most definitely!!!

I am wearing Christmas sweaters - never wanted to draw the attention to myself in the past
I actually wanted to and felt like putting the tree up this year
I have been shopping like crazy - you could not pay me to get out into the malls this time of year in the past (actually they're pretty empty and that's sad to see)
I am going shopping after work - normally I would have gone straight home and hit the recliner
I am attending several Christmas functions that I NEVER would have before
I am baking this year for presents - even though I am not partaking I am gifting baked goods
Traveling is much easier this year

My tree isn't big but its the first one I have put up in several years. I even put ornaments on it and everything. I used to get a tree up every thangsgiving Friday and always take it down on Dec 26th but taking it down got later and later year by year and I realized a few years ago I hated taking the tree down so I quit putting it back up. This year is different. I enjoyed putting up my tree and I am not worried about taking it down. This is definitely a new way to feel about Christmas for me.

Hi Alice,

Since I'm still stuck in battles with insurance, I unfortunately am where you have been, but for me it's the opposite of where I used to be (if that didn't confuse you too much).  I used to look so forward to Christmas - a friend of mine asked me today what was wrong with me because she thinks of me as "Ms. Christmas".  You know, tree up and the house adorned and smelling like Christmas by Thanksgiving Day.  And last year I had said that I was going to be much thinner this Christmas.  But instead, here I am, still fat as ever and having to fight BCBS tooth and nail for approval.  And for the 1st time in many, many years, I don't look forward to Christmas at all.  Tree isn't up or decorated and I could care less.  And that makes me so very sad.

But I am glad my OH friends are feeling much merrier.  I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Hi Alice what makes this Christmas so good for me is I have unlimited energy and had my house all decorated over a week ago.
In Christmases past it took me days to get the tree decorated I think this is because of the standing it took to put everything on the tree.
My DH loves Christmas too.
So we go all out celebrating here.
This Friday my mom and brother will be coming for dinner I am so happy about this and not worried if I will be able to clean my house well enough because I know I can do it now within a few hours.
Once again this Christmas I hope to be able to go to Christmas mass on Christmas eve this has always been a very special service for me.
Going last year I noticed the priest comes down to give communion instead of walking up steps to the alter.
From what I saw the majority of people recived communion this way.

Our Christmas Eve service is my MOST favorite part of Christmas!  It brings us all back to what the season is really about!!!!!  I'll be thinking of you when the communion tray comes around on Christmas eve!

Our family is lighting the Christ candle on Christmas eve this year and I plan to wear something spectactular!!!!  For the first time in years, I love dressing up again.

Love ya, Alice

You'd better believe it.  My house looks like the Grizwalds this year!  I was too nervous to get my (320lb) rear end on the roof last year!!  HO HO HO!!!!
