Change...

This is something I saw that resonated with me. I thought I'd share it and a few things I plan to 'Change' ... please add somethings that you want to change.

Change

If you always do, what you always did

You will always get, what you always got, and

You will always be, what you have always been.

Since I don't plan to always get, what I always got or always be what I've always been, so I'm working on changing what I always did.

Changes I'm making...

Being accountable to myself by getting on the scale each day... If my weigh fluctuates by more than 3 lbs, I start tracking what I eat again and make adjustments to get it back in line.

Sitting down at a table to eat ... if I'm going to eat I need to sit at table so that my eating is purposeful and not mindless.

Lead with lean protien

What changes are you making?

I agree with what you're planning to do Barb...  good habits for all of us post-ops to have.

In addition I want to increase my cardio workouts.  I've been averaging about 30 minutes each time and would love to get to 45 mins.

I like the eating at the table thing. Since my husband is gone it is easy for me to grab something and eat it in bed or on the couch with a movie on. I need to eat more protein and get back on track and away from the tempting junk I have been buying. My body needs the protein to stay strong Thanks for posting, it was a great reminder!!

I know what you mean ... I find that when I sit at the table, it's a meal not a snack ... it seems that I'm more willing to consume junk with snacks, so for me sitting down to a meal is more likely to be a more thoughtful and considered consumption.

My wife having had WLS a couple of years ago got me indoctrinated into the way of life post op but I still have these cravings for Well the forbidden fruits.. My change is seeing a new face in the mirror and eating stuff that has value and not decadence. I ate enough decadence to float the queen mary and am sorta glad these items are just not my cup of tea any more. Having said that I am for sure not a militant anti junk food general in charge of the army sort of person either. I figure my old daddy who is a sweetaholic can have all the fig newtons he wants and honestly at 94 I always ask if he wants a blonde, brunette, or red head. His answer is always the same.. All of them. That is just before my mother blesses him out. Even old folks get to change now and then.. I guess the biggest change for me this year will be in pennies, nickles, dimes, and quarters.. Since I have not got enough sense (cents) upstairs in the first place.
