Halfway there.....
Well, I'm down 72 lbs since July 7th (2 weeks preop diet started then)....I still feel like I'm losing slowly. I thought I'd knocked off a couple more lbs this week, but ate sushi last night and am retaining water from the soy sauce...so the d*&%$n scale didn't budge this morning. I wonder if I'm going to make goal in the next 8 months? I still feel fat!
I still can't wrap my head around all of the changes that are happening to us. I'm only a couple of weeks behind you and losing at about the same rate. (66 lbs since Aug. 8th) There are those days when I still feel just plain old fat. I can give you a list of a milion and one changes (all positives) since surgery but the surgery was on our stomachs and not our self image. I remember reading on here that it takes a while to get to the point where we really accept our new bodies. Afterall if you were like me then you've spent decades just being, well - fat.
Try not to be so hard on yourself. You've done an amazing job. When was the last time you felt this good? For me it's been a long, long while ago. It's really weird having people compliment me about my weight loss. It seems like this past week is when everyone has noticed (even though the scales moved more slowly than ever). Enjoy the ride even if it takes longer than 8 months.

Thanks Iris! I appreciate the support and pep-talk.
But see, when I look at you and your new avatar...You look TOTALLY different! I just can't see myself looking that different, especially my face!
But you, my dear....it's like night and day! I mean, you've got cheekbones!!! And lookin' so beautiful! You're doing a great job!

Lisa:
I feel like you will make goal....I know your BMI was lower than mine when we both started and I lost slower than you actually. I had surgery July 2 and it was at least Jan before I was down as much as you. Keep the faith.....and yes, I understand about the feeling fat issue. I think it is an awereness more so now that you are in the losing mode than when we were obese and just not really looking at our bodies. Does than make sense? You are doing fantastic!

Congrats on being halfway there. The next half will be just as fun as the first half, look at it that way... I take pictures each month and it still amazes me almost 8 months out to watch the changes month by month to compare them to a picture I have from over a year ago when I was at my largest. They do surgery on our stomachs, not our brains as someone mentioned so it just takes awhile for our mind to catch up with us as to how we really look. You are doing wonderful though.
