New Avatar - New Life
Hi Laura! I enjoyed seeing your new photo/avi and reading your latest blog entry. You have done so well! It's inspiring to hear you say that your weight-loss has freed you up mentally and emotionally to *enjoy* life. That is so awesome and I am looking forward to much of the same.
Don't know if you read in one of my previous posts/replies today, but we are planning on booking another family cruise for December 2009 and I am hopeful that this time I will enjoy formal night in THE little black dress. How cool would that be?! I'm also looking forward to focusing more on the *activities, excursions, etc.* Before I was like, what was the EASIEST most low-impact?! (Notice I'm not even mentioning how much I focused on the FOOD! lol) I could so relate to what you were saying about the mental games.
One of my fave things in life used to be wearing my dad's, then my hubby's, clothes. They used to SWALLOW me, so to be able to get down to where I could just get into them again...wow. I know how thrilling it was for you to get into your hubby's things...and yes, soon you will weigh less than him! Woohoo!
Merry Christmas to you too!

We were on a cruise in April before my surgery ~ in fact, I had to start my liquid diet the last 3 days of the cruise. And if someone had told me then that my Thanksgiving cruise would have been so different I wouldn't have believed them! And it's only been 7 months since then! Imagine how you'll look in a YEAR!!
On this cruise I did an excursion that involved kayaking and zip-lining through the forests of Jamaica. In April I weighed too much to zip-line.
It's truly amazing :) And I wake up grateful every day.

Laura, I can't imagine having to start the liquid diet the last 3 days of a cruise! You have some sort of gusto there, woman! lol
I'm hoping my body will look okay in a swimsuit by next year. I think I can hide/disguise most anything except for inner thighs and under arms. I've been begging them to cooperate with me!
Our kids are DYING to do a zip-line and horseback excursion...which you know both have weight limits. It would be so wild to be able to browse excursions without having to mentally cross so many out due to weight/walking limitations.
How did you like the zip-line in Jamaica? We are looking at Progreso and Cozumel as our ports of call this next time (family of 5 = find the cheapest cruise - lol).
I am SO HAPPY for you!!!!!!

I loved the zip-line, but something to keep in mind is that there is an age limit (12 years old, I think). My kids are 16 and 8 -- and of course my 16-year-old wanted nothing to do with the family :) He wanted to hang out with his friends, so I got to enjoy the zip-line with my mom while my husband took the kids to a beach.
In Cozumel my daughter and I did a dolphin "push-pull-swim" experience at a national park only 5 minutes away from the dock -- and I would NOT recommend it. The groups were HUGE and we were rushed through each exercise. However, my mom had a wonderful "swim with the dolphins" experience at Dolphinarius -- so maybe we'll do that next time.
Regarding the swimsuit, even with my running my thighs look bad. But I simply could not care less :) I wear a sarong/coverup when I'm walking around -- and am behind a book when I'm sunning. And on top of that, anyone who cares how my legs look quickly forget when they see the stupid grin of sheer joy on my face.
You'll have a BLAST!
