Got a date!!
I am so excited. I got a date for my surgery-- January 14th. It really works out well because we have 3 days off of school that following week, so that will be three days I won't have to take sick days. I am still kind of in a state of disbelief. I keep thinking Wow, this is really going to happen. I keep telling my husband (any myself really) to help think of the reality of this. For example, I was telling my husband yesterday that we will see his family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) 2 days after Christmas (while I'm still fat), but then we won't see them again until June when his cousin gets married. I'll be 6 months post-op at that time and hopefully will have lost a great deal of weight. June seems so close, but it's nice to think about being able to buy a nice dress for the wedding and not dread going because I won't be the largest person there. Hopefully I'll be somewhat "normal" looking. We also go see my family in the summer (they live in NY) and it's awesome to think about how surprised they'll be to see the new me and to think about all the stuff I'll be able to do there that I couldn't do last time we were there. I can't believe I'm just 6 short weeks awary from surgery!!! Yeah!!!
Busy is good right now...it will help a ton with passing the time!
Congratulations on your perfect date for surgery. Mine ended up working well like that also so I know how thankful you are. Before you know it, you'll be pulling out of the hospital with the surgery behind you and a new lease on life.
By 6 months post-op, you will most likely lose somewhere between 50-100 pounds...and your families will be scooping their jaws off the ground! Do they know you are having surgery? I'm with you on being able to wear a nice dress and not having to dread going. I'm hoping to book a December 2009 cruise for our family and it's going to be nice not dreading formal night this time around. Do I dare hope that I'll actually getting to buy and wear a "little black dress"?! Be still my heart! lol
Just 6 more weeks...sending you lots of ~~~good luck~~~ vibes!

Congratulations!!! I had a very similar experience. I had my surgery in June. My family had not seen me since the previous December and I didn't see them until October. I had lost 50 lbs. I wasn't thin, but I was down to a 'normal' size and everyone was astounded. It was fabulous to be able to find an outfit that fit that wasn't for 'fat ladies' and I danced the night fantastic.
I wish the same for you.
