Frustrated at 6 weeks post-op

I am getting a little frustrated tomorrow I will be 6 weeks out. I have not lost any weight in 11 days. I know you run into stalls but I did not think it would be this early or for this long. i am not sure if I am doing something wrong or what. Today I have had a container of yogurt, 2 8 oz protein shakes about a 1/3 of a cup of chicken salad made with low fat mayo, and I have not eaten dinner yet. This is pretty much what I have every day. Does it sound like I am doing something wrong along the way?

thanks Jeff

Jeff - I am no expert, but I think that you have to give your body time to adjust.  Certainly 67 pounds is not chopped liver... LOL

Do you need to increase your water intake?  What are you doing for exercise?   walking?  is it time to add another 10 minutes?

Don't get discouraged.  I really think that it is okay and you will start dropping weight again very soon.

Hey Jeff.  You're doing fine.
As I recall, a common first stall is at week three for a week or so.  Then the stalls come and go.

The big problem with stalls are that they can put us into the mindset some of us had pre-op  "This stupid diet doesn't work, nothing works, my body is just supposed to be fat, I am tired of trying . . ."  Don't fall into that mindset.

Sounds like everything is going just right.  Weight loss is not a steady progress thing, it comes in fits and spurts.

Hang in there!  And don't hesitate to post here when you';re frustrated (like you've done here) that's one of the big plusses of this board.

As everyone else has said, it's normal.  I remember getting off the scale and kicking it into the wall in frustration...and that was 50 pounds ago.  I know you've probably heard it before, but I think it bears repeating.  Weight loss for "us" is like stair steps, not a kids slide.  I'm on a stall right now, for the past 4 weeks!  And everytime I STILL feel the same way you do.  "Oh gosh, this is it, I'm done losing, it's over..blah blah"  I walk around and act like an @ss for a few days until the scale moves again then I quick kicking and screaming and the like.  Don't I sound like loads of fun?  LOL

Jeff I'm sorry your having a down day but I've been there too and now the scales are moving a little bit, and my advice to you is to measure yourself to see the inches you are probably losing, that's what the nurse told me was happening with me and sure enough I'm down almost 15 inches. PM me if you need to talk.

When have you ever lost 67 pounds in that short of time? You are doing fantastic!!!! your body is trying to do a self defense recovery right now!! I promise you YOU WILL start losing again!! stay off that scale!!! I know it is sooo hard to do...I know this sounds crazy but the more I ate the more weight I lost... make sure you are drinking lots of water.. keep your chin up, things will start moving again!!

Jeff,  I'm sorry you are dealing with a stall.  My guess is that it has something to do with you losing so much so quickly at the outset.  Your body is playing catch-up now.  I've read on here long enough to see more stalls for longer periods the faster people lose the weight.  Does that make sense?  Your eating plan sounds perfect.  Hang in there.  I am sooo dreading my inevitable stall!

(((Jeff))),

Take heart. I know it's frustrating, but you are doing just fine. Be sure to continue to take your supplements, get in the protien and fluids. Check the tape measure. Often when the scale won't budge the tape measure does. At any rate, your body has lost an ENORMOUS amount of weight in the last 6 weeks by any standard and it's taking a bit to regroup. It's trying desperately to hold on to your precious fat reserves that you are trying equally desperately to get rid of ... The good news is that you WILL win this battle of the buldge and I look forward to a post soon telling me of your latests DROP in weight. Often whenyou have a prolonged stall, when it breaks, it's like the dam bursts and you'll see a significant drop.

I know it's scary, but it's soooo normal.

Hang in there... Keep doing what your Dr and Nut have told you to do and you'll get there.
