Home from the hospital...yeah!!!
Hi everyone,
Well, I did it! I had my surgery and am home now on my comfy couch. It went really well.
I had surgery at 7:15 and did extremely well until I started getting nauseous around 3pm. It took some extra meds to keep me from throwing up, but when I got home, I did throw up - not fun right after surgery.! So I called the hospital and they told me I could take my anti-nausea more often and no protein drinks until the am. I"m feeling much better now!
I've never had major surgery before, so my first time feeling this kind of pain (it is like doing 1000 situps!) and I haven't needed someone to wipe me after pottying since I was 4! :) My dear, sweet husband got the priveledge! I seem to need to go to the bathroom every 30 minutes, which is a real pain! (literally and figuratively!) Hopefully I'll get some sleep tonight.
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. I'm so glad this part's over!

Vickie,
Try holding a pillow on you tummy. It sure helped me when I got up and down. Do not wait to take your pain meds until you are hurting. If it say take every 4-6 hours take it at least every 4-6 hrs. It is soooo much easier to keep the pain level under control than it is to get it under control!!
I understand about the wiping your butt. My poor husband had the honors also on the frist occasion, but after that I did fine. Some folks said that a pair of kitchen tongs worked wonders for them and kept the embarrassment of having to have some one preform that chore for you. Just wash and put away for next time! I was able to reach after the 1st time so I did not try them out but I have kept it in my mind for furture surgeries.
Thoughs and prayers are with you.
Hugs,

Welcome home Vickie!! when I had my RNY they gave me a Bariatric pillow to hold on the left side of my body. It really did help!! your hubby joins mine in the duties they shared on surgery day LOL I could wipe up BUT he had to give me a good scrub down when it was time for a sponge bath
welcome to the losers bench!!
