Am I ever going to learn?? after ALL this time I KNOW better then to shovel food! Last night I waited too long to eat and its my own fault. Once I get in that zone (hubby calls it my danger zone) I will grab whatever is available and shovel it in!!! I heated up a tortilla with cheese and sour cream... one of my favorite meals... well I ate it in regular pre surgery bites and swallows.... after cramming it down I felt my mouth starting to do the ole water running foamies... I felt like someone took a 20 lb boulder and dropped it in my pouch... I had to lay down and pray I could get it back out and up... I felt horrible and sick.... finally the pouch won and pushed it up... I have not thrown up like that in MONTHS.... its totally MY FAULT and now I never want to eat that combo again!!! funny thing is I never know what is going to make me feel like crap... one day I can eat something and then the next I get sick off of it. This was my fault though for woofing it down and Im glad my body taught me a lesson I seemed to forget SMALL BITES AND CHEW CHEW CHEW!!! Thanks for letting me share!!!

Ohh, Darcie - I can soooo relate... I seem to forget to take small bites, too and when I am in a hurry - like at work - well, I have no choice but to make it a beeline to the bathroom... It is disgusting.... why can't I remember??
Mine is more of the slimy than foamies...

I am hoping that I figure this band thing out before I am so old that I am on a walker and trying to make it to the bathroom to barf...

I know exactly what you mean.  Sometimes when I am sitting down for dinner with my kids I will forget and my pouch will remind me that I didnt chew well enough because I will be talking with them about their day or what not.  I'll end up taking too big of a piece down and it comes back up eventually.  We will get it down pat eventually Darcie...LOL

Awww... sorry you had to go through that!  Even at 6 year out I still have to "remind" myself not to shovel at least twice a year.  I don't think we EVER learn!  UGH!  I'm hard headed!!!  Anyway I hope you feel better!!!  See ya soon!

Ohh, Darcie, I hope you are back to normal by now.

For so many years we were used to stuffing our mouths and gulping our food.  As if it would 'get away' before we could fini****!  It's really hard to change that conditioning.  I wonder if we ever get over it completely?

I KNOW it hurts like HE**, but thank GOD, we have that reality check.  If we didn't we would be right back where we started.

You have come so far, and look so good, you are an inspiration to us all.  Can't wait to see you and everyone else again next week.  Take care.

I'm soooo sorry that you had to endure that, but aren't we glad that we have that pouch to yank us up shore when necessary?

I hope you are feeling all better and I know  you'll be going slower.

Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!
