The nurse called

Well she called at like 6:30, I was surprised. Anyways they think it maybe deferred pain from my hernia. She said the doctor wanted me to lie down and push the hernia back in and see if that helped any so they would know what they were dealing with. Well I did and it made the pain on my side stop hurting but the hernia hurt like hell. So I guess they know what they are talking about so nowwwwwwwww..... she told me they sent in the appeal for my hernia/tt surgery and now its up to the insurance co. In the mean time I get to suffer. If the insurance company still does not want to pay then they may go ahead with the hernia repair and I am considering going ahead with the tt too. I asked her how much it would be and she said $2500.Does anyone know if that sounds reasonable?I have no idea where I would get it but  if it comes to that I will do what has to be done.  So thank you to those who were worried but it looks as though I maybe in pain for awhile. All I can do is pray someone at BCBSNC has a heart.

Thanks
Melissa

Melissa,

I don't know if it will make a difference, but I would want to talk to the Dr's office and be sure that they add that you are currently experiencing debilitating pain associated with the hernia. Maybe the fact that it is impacting your life in a negative way that isn't related to 'how you look' might tip the scales... I really don't know what the criteria is for their determination, but I think that you can probably find out; just like we did for the WLS in the first place.

I'm glad that at least now you know what you are dealing with.

I really hope you feel better soon.

Melissa,

I would have to agree with Barb - the doctor's office should send in the appeal with debilitating pain as the other reason to do the surgery now.  As for the $2500, set up a payment plan////

Good luck and hopefully the pain will settle down.

$2500 seems very reasonable..  Is it a tt with the muscle tightening or a panniculectomy? Either way sounds very reasonable.

My anchor cut TT was not at all covered by insurance. It was just over $9,000.

I hope you to feeling better soon.

Melissa,

I hope you're feeling better soon and that insurance goes ahead and pays for your tt...  I have gone to 2 plastic surgeons in the Jacksonville and Wilmington areas and the least expensive I've found for a tt was over $8000, so if you can get it for $2500 by a respectable doctor then wow!!!   I really hope insurance pays for it though...  I'll be watching your post, I have BCBS also but the Federal plan.

Good luck!

I would imagine that its 2500 dollars because they're assuming insurance will cover the hernia repair part.  That means that the hospital visit, anesthesiology, etc will fall under the hernia.  You're being asked to pay only for the actual TT.

That being said, it would be worth jumping on if insurance doesn't payfor the TT.  It would kind of be like going to Disney and someone else paying for the hotel and food.  All you have to pay is tickets to the park.  Don't know if I'm making sense, it's late...

Take care.

Ah, Melissa.  That sounds miserable.  So sorry you are dealing with this.  I hope your appeal is approved super soon.  $2500 for the tt sounds amazing.  I could actually afford something like that!  lol  Hang in there, sweetie.  Fingers crossed you get good news soon.

 Melissa,

I hope BCBSNC approves it all and it's not an issue, but if they don't, go ahead and get the TT!  $2500 is a steal, and you'd kick yourself later if you had to pay 3 times that for the surgery.  Good luck!
