Dr. Pirrello

OK - so Ivory tells us Jon Pirrello is leaving Carolina Weight Loss Surgery.  Any idea where he's going, and when?  

I am so sorry he's leaving. I really like him. I met Dr.Bauman and I like him also. The staff is just wonderful. Dr. Pirrello is relocating to the Matthews area in south Charlotte.

I know what you mean.  I just adore Jon.  Haven't gotten to know Doc Roc, but everyone who has admires him greatly.  He was awesome at the walk from obesity in Sept. 
Any idea what practice Jon is going to?

I'm very upset at this news, Robin, as you can imagine.  Several of us up here are!  I don't know what practice he will be with, only that he will be operating at Presby Matthews.  I cannot tell you how sad this makes me.  I almost cried when he told me he was leaving.  He is still finalizing some of the legal aspects of his move, so he hasn't been able to tell us a great deal of the details.

I love Dr. Bauman (my own surgeon), but his manner is totally different than Dr. Pirrello's and I have a special place in my heart for Dr. Pirrello.

Thanks for what you can tell me.  Is he still going to be doing bariatric or is he going a different direction?  And is he setting up his own practice or is he joining someone?  I know he did trauma surgery at Northeast and I wondered if he would enjoy ERish type stuff. 

I wish I knew more details to tell you, but I don't know much.  He will be operating with us until 12/20, and then he will be there but not performing any other bariatric surgeries after that with us until his official move to Presby Matthews.  To my knowlege, he will still be doing bariatrics -- I'm not sure if he is setting up his own practice or joining someone.  WHOEVER gets him is darn lucky to have him, if he is joining another practice. 

He does do a lot of trauma, but I really think his first love is the bariatric aspect of his work.  He does some general surgery, too.  His trauma cases are always really wacky -- we kid him a lot when he is on call because the really WEIRD stuff shows up when it's his turn! 

I'm really going to miss him, and I'm glad he isn't going far away.  My sister is a band patient of his, too, so at least I'll still have an "in"! 

Has the office called you to let you know he's moving on?  I wonder how they are going to handle his patients.  I know that you'll have the option to follow him or continue at the office in Concord, but that'd mean switching to Dr. Bauman.  Once you've established with one surgeon, I'd think you'd want to continue with the same.  I would follow Dr. Bauman if it were the other way around.  If I had established with Dr. Pirrello, I'd definitely follow him, too! 

I'm still sad about the whole thing.  It's like losing a great friend.

Thank you so much for all the info.  This helps a bunch.  I haven't heard anything from the office.  I was supposed to have an appointment on Election Day and they called the day before to tell me that he had to reschedule.  I didn't have my calendar so couldn't set up a new appointment and haven't called them since.  I'll touch base with them soon.

Thanks again for always having such great info, and presenting it with such a marvelous attitude.  You are an amazing person!  I know Jon is sad to be leaving you, too.
