Hi Connie!!!! Welcome to the boards.  I think it is so hard to do the wait and not be scared.  I too am playing the waiting game I have 2 more months of supervised diet and then I can get a date.  The ladies on here have been so helpful to me and the ones I have met in person are such sweet people they have been a big blessing,  I hope your experiences are just as wonderful.

Hi Connie,

Welco.me to the OH NC Forum and congratulations on your upcoming surgery! You are about to embark on the journey of a lifetime that will change your life for the better in soooo many ways.

My husband will have Dr. Portenier perform his surgery 12/11, so you will both be on your journey's at about the same time. I have every confidence in the team at Duke and am sure that you will do very well with the support that you will recieve from them.

I look forward to seeing you at the Duke WLS monthly support group meetings. I hope that you'll also consider attending the monthly Get Togethers that I host in Raleigh on the 3rd Saturday of each month. We have a large, diverse group and would love to get to know and support you. For information about the NC WLS Group, you can go to http://wls.meetup.com/101.

Please be sure to come here for plenty of support as  you make you way.

All the best,

Barbara

I have been there in your shoes pretty recently and I remember the waiting. It was exciting and maybe scary all at the same time. SO you now have about two weeks to wait now and you will get there. Keep reading the boards and post your thoughts. You will get lots of support here. And as we all tend to say we are saving you a spot on that loser's bench!

Hi Connie!

I am right behind you!  My surgery is scheduled for December 17th.   I am nervous and excited all at the same time (kind of like the way I felt before I had my son)!

You will not find a better group of people than the ones on here!  They are all wonderful, full of knowledge, and extremely helpful!  They are such angels!!!

Good luck with your journey!  Of course keep us posted on your progress!

WElcome Connie.

I am glad you are going to get reborn so to speak on Dec 2. For the first few days its may not be the greatest thing in the world and you may ask yourself oh my what did I do.. In about a week you will begin to see the difference in your life even though it may be just small things. A month or so down the road you will most likely be the biggest advocate for WLS in your town. I would suggest if there is a group of WLS patients in your area to enjoy sharing some time with them if possible. I wish you the best in recovery and what a great way to start off the holidays with a new you.

Hi Connie!  I'm so glad you chose to post and share with us about your surgery.  I am 4 days post-op and THRILLED I had my surgery!  If I could only say to put all your fears and worries aside, and could enable you to do just that, I would.  However, I know I can't and it's completely normal to have them.  You will soon see there was nothing to stress about and you will absolutely be in my thoughts.  If you're going to the Raleigh meet-up in January, I am planning on making the trip from the mountains so I should see you there.  Keep posting and relying on us...we are here for you!  Good luck!
