Thank you so much.  I am so relived to hear not to worry about getting my protein in, because first thing this morning I threw up the protein shake.  I am able to hold just the boost drink and crystal light, and walking every hour.

Thank you so much for the advice.

Adam,

When working on the protien shake, try to go slow at first. If you can try to have about 2 ounces at the top of each hour, that's enough that if you do it all day for every waking hour you'll get more protien in than you might think, but it is at a gentle pace that may be somewhat forgiving.

If you find that you continue to have trouble with nausea, please be sure to contact your surgeon's office. While not everyone has this issue, it's not uncommon and there are things that they can do to help you.

Wishing you all the best,

Barb

P.S. If you are able to tolerate the crystal lite and have trouble with the protien, you might try using part of a protien bullet mixed with the crystal lite. Many programs, including my own don't particularly like the protien bullets because they are not a very complete nutritional supplement. However, many will use them to ensure that they are getting some protien in until they feel up to the heavier duty supplements like Boost, Ensure or the powdered mixes like DesignerWhey, AmericanWhey, etc... It won't be a problem in the very early stages, but you should also know that you can only absorb about 25 grams of protien at a sitting, so don't bother consuming a whole bullet because your body will just flush anything beyond the threshold it can absorb.

Thank you so much for the advice.  I left a message for my nutricianist this morning so hopefully I hear from her soon.  I glad I have met you.

Congrats Adam! I'm glad that everything is going well so far! Sounds like you shouldn't worry too much about the protien.. I guess gradually build up! You are doing great!

Congratulations Adam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am thrilled for you.
I will be joining you soon on the other side. 24 days
How was your experience???
I am scared to death and the more I stress about it the more I want to eat. Emotional eater I am but the doc says if I gain he won't do it which makes me stress more. So any words of wisdom you may have I would appreciate.
Take care of you

Girl when I am stressed I eat too.  SO what I did before surgery because my doctor had me on the adkins diet, I eat surgar free jello all the time, in the morning, in the evening and at night.  I also ate boiled eggs because that was a great source of protein.  I lived on chicken salads and I ended up lossing a total of 18lbs two and half weeks before surgery.  Just keep going and don't gain, and drink crystal light and water.  What I would do for thanksgiving is eat the turkey, eat the boiled eggs or the angel eggs, eat the good stuff.

Congrats, Adam!
Welcome to the winners' circle!
I'm doing great, too ... (surgery on 11/18) ... feel good and no pain.  It's hard to get the protein in - so just do the best you can ... my NUT said to sip, sip, sip all day long (on fluids) so as not to get dehydrated.  I find that's even difficult - I'm not hungry ....

Anyway ... glad to hear your home .... take care of yourself!

Thank you so much for the advice. Are you able to get all of your protein in?
