spices ok?
I remember a time I was trying to help boost my metabolism and I was taking a teaspoon of hot sauce several times a day. :)
I think the two most sure-fire ways are: 1. Eat mini-meals throughout the day (every 2-3 hours), especially eating within an hour of waking, so your body's metabolism stays fueled and 2. through weight-lifting to build muscle...the more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism is.
I've read that artificial sweeteners have many potentially adverse side-affects, one being a negative effect on metabolism. (I remember wondering if that is one of my problems since dieting has had me going sugar-free for YEARS!). I've also read that the ever popular Omega-3's can help boost metabolism.
Great topic! :)

Thanks for the info. I can't imagine going without Splenda, but other than that I'm going for it! My surgeon already has me eating every 2.5 to 3 hours, religiously! And I'm doing both cardio and weight stuff. My buddy recommended that I do squats b/c it's an effective way to build leg thigh and butt muscles. Because they are the biggest muscles, it's the most effective way to get more muscle mass and increase metabolism.
So how are you doing?
So how are you doing?
I'm tired! :) Just getting ready to shut the computer down and get some more rest, after I go down to get some lunch...cream-of-something soup. It feels wonderful to be at home and to be making the new transitions. I am loving every moment of it! Still relying on the Lortab for the left-side pain, but that keeps it totally manageable so I'm happy. I'm with you on the Splenda note. I may try using Stevia more here at home but in the prepackaged things I love the stuff made with Splenda. Sounds like you are doing great with your eating and exercising...kudos! Let me know if you find the magic elixer...being 40 and post-menapause, goodness only knows my metabolism ain't what it used to be!
I love spicey! I eat all kinds of hot stuff. The only problem for me has been the "no drinking" for 1/2 hr after eating something hot. It can be painful to the mouth. It helps to eat something like a cracker or toast after it, though.
