The ol' ticker says, "2 days!"
Won't be long now! I can remember the extreme excitement I felt in the last few hours before my surgery. Looking back, I really kind of, sort of..."enjoyed" it. Sort of like a 5 year old on Christmas Eve. Misty and I both had the "special" body wash, we had to shower with it the night before and the morning of. Our surgeon made no mention of clean sheets and toweletts but I guess you can't be too careful. Kind of silly when you think about it, you're gonna climb out of that sterile bed, put on "regular" clothes, climb into a car that's most likely not the cleanest environment and then hug all over your loved ones in the pre-surgical area (at least I did). Not sleeping with your "mate" really DOES suck. You're already gonna have to take a break when you get home from surgery, I was trying to make up for (furture) lost time in the days leading up to my surgery!
I am totally with you about the sterile environment thing...it's just a tad bit strange when you think about it. So, like, everything that I touch from the moment I finish my shower on has to be like totally clean and almost sterile? How the heck?! Guess I will most likely get my goodbyes in to the kids and pets the night before (and before my shower) since it's going to be 4 a.m.'ish when we leave the morning of. I don't know that Allen will be able to get near me then without a hazmat suit at this point!
Isn't this like the worst week in the whole entire world for him to get sick? I mean, you want at least ONE very special intimate night with the love of your life prior to major surgery, right?! (How long do we have to wait afterwards? Email me on that one! lol)
Before I went to the hospital with #1, I spent a fortune on the most beautiful, luxurious sets of nursing gowns and robes. I didn't get to use them there because she ended up being an emergency c-section...with all the wires/tubes running from me and my trouble recovering, I spent the entire hospital time in hospital gowns! So, when I got preggers with #2 when #1 was just 9 mos. old, I was happy that I got to finally use my pretty gown/robe sets! (I had taken meticulous care of them!) Then I got preggers with #3 and we weren't as financially capable of buying such fancy luxuries, but I did manage a couple of cute nursing gowns and a robe. By the time #4 came along, and I'd spent the entire pregnancy in and out of the hospital hooked to wires/tubes, in which I had to use the conveniently snapping hospital gowns once again, I could have cared less if I spent my maternity time in them as well after his birth! LOL Why this story? I am opting for the hospital gowns this time around with one on backwards as the robe because I learned, through multiple trial and error, it's cheap and convenient! hehehe
And if you're talking about the avatar photo, then yes it did turn out more flattering than I probably deserve. lol If you go to my "before" photos, or the photo of (yes, PUNY) me at the gala last Friday, you'll see me in all my aging glory! But thanks a million for the compliment...I could be aging a lot worse! Daughter turns 21 in January...I can hardly believe it.
