Desperately trying to find groups in Raleigh area. Five years post-op but having lots of problems with weight regain. Need some folks to talk to and be accountable to. Please let me know what is available!

Hi Bob,

I run a fairly sizeable support group in Raleigh with about 175 members. You can get information about the group at http://wls.meetup.com/101. We have a general group meeting that gets together on the third Saturday morning of each month at the Golden Corral on Millbrook at Capital. We probably have about 45 or so that attend the general meeting. We also have a new sub-group directed to WLS Grads; that group is meeting once a month on the 4th Thursday night in Brier Creek. We have a diverse group with plenty of newbies, but a number of grads at different places in their respective journies.

I really look forward to meeting you.

All the best,

Barb

There's also a support group the last Thursday of each month at Rex Hospital, sponsored by my surgeon's office.  Anyone can attend - there are RNYers and LapBanders.  It's on the bottom floor if you enter through the cancer center entrance.  Starts at 6:00 and lasts about 2 hours but you don't have to stay that long.  Usually a presentation the first hour then the group breaks up by surgery type to have discussions.  As far as accountability, there's no weigh in, but if you meet new friends you can check in with them.

Just call Rex and they should be able to confirm the details (I always forget if it's 6 or 6:30).
