Tonight for dinner I had shrimp, they were medium size. After I had eaten 2 1/2 I had this pain in around the middle of my chest and it lasted for about an hour. I have not had this happen before and was wondering did the shrimp not agree with my pouch, did I eat too much or was something stuck? Thanks for the help

Generally speaking, when I get food stuck, I'm heaving for hours, and still feel like crap for 24 hours past.  The heaving brings up foam (known, appropriately as, foaming) but until I can get the food up, I'm miserable.

They could have hit your sutures badly.. when I eat something and it hits my ulcer (not saying you have one, just tender skin being the common denominator), I can have pain for about an hour afterwards.

Skip them for a few weeks, and try again.

Hi Jeff,

It sounds like you got some shrimp stuck. It's hard in the beginning because even when you 'think' you are going slowly enough, you aren't. So use a knife and fork and cut up the shrimp into pieces about 1/3 to 1/2 inch long ... I know it's tiny. Chew it 25 to 30 times and then wait at least 1 minute after you have swallowed before trying the next bite. Your pouch is very swollen right now and so when you eat and swallow, things can very easily get backed up and cause stuff to get stuck, which is the 'pain' that you were feeling.

It's kind of hit and miss in the beginning andyou won't always have to eat this slowly, but in the beginning it's a good idea for you to take 20 to 30 minutes to 'eat a meal' that looks like it's not likely to take more than 2 or 3 seconds to devour.

Hang in there, this too shall pass.

I agree with Barb. Thats what happens when I eat to fast , or don't chew good enough. If I up chuck I get immediate relief. Just chew slower and chew good. I love shrimp but I am careful eating them because of consistancy. 3 is all I can eat most of the time unless they are small.
Good Luck
