medicade apporval question... please help!!!
I'm asking this question for my friend... She read on the NC Medicade site that you have to provide 5 years of records showing shes had a BMI over 40 for that long.. Well heres the thing - She hasnt been to the doctor every year for 5 years. Theres a couple of years here in there she didnt go. SO, does it have to be 5 years in a row? Shes been overweight her whole life and is really looking forward to this surgery. Now shes worried Medicade wont approve her because she hasnt been to the doctor every year. So if you know anything about this, please help!?!? Thanks alot in advance!!!!

Nichole, I can only speak of my experience. My surgical clinic told people that asked the same question at seminar that you have to have 5 complete years of medical records even if you have to go back more years than that. Does that make sense? Like, I could go back to 1999 with my medical records, because my BMI has been above 40 since then, and they could compile them all to come up with at least 5 complete years if not more. I hope this helps your friend!
