OT - Simmons - Rant - X post

When we moved to NC 3 years ago I bought all new furniture for my house.  Including 3 beds with Simmon's mattresses.  All of the mattresses now have mountains in the middle (the guest beds get very little use).  When I bought the matresses I was told they had a 10 year warranty.  I contacted Simmons and they sent a man out to look over the master bedroom matress.  He measured it and we have a 2" indentation on my husband's side of the bed and a 1" indentation on my side.  This is with no one laying on it, so you can imagine the dent we have when we are in the bed.  Simmons says this is "normal" and the bed is supposed to shape itself to the contours of our bodies.  All I can say is, it is very uncomfortable.  Needless to say, we will never be buying another Simmons mattress.  This is one of those mattresses that you don't have to turn over.  Can't, as a matter of fact, since it has just a thin gauze cover on the under side.

I had the same thing happen to me with the same result.  Since I am single I do turn my mattress around--foot to head and then head to foot to try and keep the sides even.  I will never buy another mattress that you cannot turn.   I have a permanent groove in my bed where I lay and I am with you--it is dang uncomfortable!

SO far after three years my sleep number bed is really holding up well. I am adjusting it more as my weight changes though but it is handling it fine. Sometimes DH and I would like to put a memory foam cover on it but it is fine without it.

Does your mattress have a pillow top?  I have heard different ppl say it is the pillow top foam that does it and is the reason i have never bought one.   I have a Simmons Beauty Rest without the pillow top after replacing one that was 13 years old when it started to be uncomfortable.   They are king size and while i could turn the old one, i never did as it was so big.

Sorry to hear about that and can't believe they don't stand behind their product!

No it's not a pillow top.  I had heard bad things about them, as well.  The last bed we had in OR was a Serta, and we had had it for 15 years.  We flipped it every 6 mo. and it was still pretty comfy, but I wanted all new stuff here.

No matter what brand bed you get the warranties say they don't cover "mattress cover compression", or they only cover "defects in material or workmanship".

Well, Simmons says this is just the normal compression of the cover and there is no defect in the material or workmanship.  I suspect any mattress company would say the same thing about lumps.

The bottom line.  NO ONE MAKES QUALITY PRODUCTS ANYMORE!
