My mind is fighting with me today

Yes my mind is trying to remind me of food I can't eat and knowing I still have one more week of this full liquid diet and it is getting to me, I'm so ready to beable to taste something different. I even called the Nut today and ask her if the paper was correct on when to start the soft/puree stage and of course she said yes. Then I have to be on that for 3 weeks before moving on to regular food. Don't get me wrong I'm not hungry but my mind keeps thinking food. Just like I went to the grocery store and I kept thinking mmmm doesn't that look good and don't you wish you could have it lol. I'm so glad I'm going to talk to the counselor tomorrow. Anybody have any suggestions to get passed this thinking?

Hey Cindy... glad you are seeing the counselor.  I didn't have any cravings for anything for the first 4 months or even a little longer.   You need to try to focus on other stuff as that is what got us in trouble to begin with.   When you go to the store, try to take a list and only go and get those items instead of walking up and down the aisles.  That way you won't have any temptation.   Also, remind yourself where you want to be in 6 months or a year from now and that you won't get there with any of the bad stuff.   It is normal to want to chew on something and if that is what you are craving, you only have a week to go.  I remember when i was getting ready to start soft foods...i was craving eggs but  could barely eat 1/2 a scrambled one.   If you were on liquids prior to surgery and then now, no wonder you want to chew...lol

Take care and good luck!

Thanks Pam for the support. No I don't want to eat it but keep thinking about different stuff. I guess I've been looking at too many recipes here on the boards and wanting to try them. Yes I've been seeing Donna the counselor for a year now because I know I have a eating problem.
Last week I was depressed with having to eat this stuff so go figure.

Looks like you have been on liquids 3 weeks already.  I thought mine was bad as 2 weeks of liquids pre-op and 10 days post.

Good luck, Pam

You'll make it through this (I promise). I remember thinking that Egg Drop soup was the greatest recipe ever created (just because it wasn't a sweet, thck protein shake). Head hunger is really weird. I never imagined how involved and complicated it was going to be. Talk it all out with your counselor and then post any tricks she gives you.

Have a great day.

Try to hold on, I remember how hard that liquid diet was.... I errr ummm ended up cheating... I was about to have a fit to have something besides broth in my mouth LOL my Doc didnt allow yogurt or sf pudding... but I had to do something and that was the best tasting sf pudding in the world. Im not telling you to cheat..just sharing my experience because I hated that liquid diet and going to the store was torture. Try to do something else when you start thinking about food I know its hard and best of luck to you!!

Thanks Darcie for the support. I have been able to have sf yogurt and sf pudding but sick of eating that as well. I've always been a meat eater and can't wait to beable to have meat again. I've only got 6 more days of this then I can move on to the soft/puree stage for another 3 weeks.
